Benchmade Skirmish?

Below are my BM 630, BM 760BK LTi, BM 635BK, Kershaw JYDII Ti/SG-2, and Buck 560XLT - all Ti framed. The bold type 760 is current stock, the others are gone. The Buck 560XLT has a 110's blade - for size comparison. Yep - the 630 is big.

As to price - the 630 started ~$220 MSRP and some variants were as much as $292 a year or so back when they were discontinued. I found mine on evil-bay last spring - LNIB $165. Fits my medium+ hands fine -- as does the mini version - which makes a more appropriate EDC. The 635BK was about the same price as new old stock in a local store about the same time last June. A 760BK LTi is a great knife - with M4 steel. The 630/635 have an S30V blade - and came sharp. The Ti/SG-2 JYDII is the sharpest knife I've ever owned. Keepers all.

Stainz,

Thanks for posting that pic. I've been looking at the JYDII online and that handle looks like it's just my size comparing it with the 630.
I may have to make a run out to Ruff's next week.:D

The Ti/SG-2 JYDII is a find - if you can locate them. Probably $150 or so now. The basic D2 Composite Blade JYDII in black G10 - at about half the cost - is heavier but quite a knife. There was a run of them with the grey G10 fashioned with the fuselage pattern, available only from the 'seconds' sources - has 'XXXX' on the blade. Just as good as a 'first' - and neater looking. In the hand, they are the same. A hefty knife - nearly as large as the 630. The 630 really reeks of quality - quite a smooth operator, too... just big!

Does benchmade make something similar to the Skirmish (Ti-framelock) but non-recurve? I though I really wanted a Seb, but after fondling it, it just didnt do it for me. No Im looking at a skirmish, but Im not into recurves..

The B-M 760 shown next to my 630 is currently available - and quite nice. I don't like Tanto blades - and I had to have one of them!

The only BM I have is the large Rukus. I'd get the large Skirmish if I could. The sad thing with BM is that they have a lot of nice looking folders but they're all sub 4" other than perhaps the Lum tanto. I saw a picture of the Lum next to the Skirmish and there is still a significant size difference.
I see BM is bringing out a new clip point Lum which will be 4.3" long. That might be interesting.

I have no love for a tonto blade as an EDC... They are functional and I get it, but I just do not like them for my use.. I guess, a Sebbie, but thicker is what Im after.. Is a Buck/Mayo TNT any thicker?
