Hello all-
Does anyone know where I can go about finding brand new in box Benchmade Skirmish? Blue class preferably. I really want one, and I know I'm more than late. Ack! :[

What are your thoughts on the Skirmish anyway, any good? I just like the profile. Its sexy looking.
:(
Thanks for your time.

I see 'em on eBay all the time. Right now there's like five or six listed. They're pretty much readily available- but Buy it Now prices range from USD$275.00-$350.00. So- available, yes. Available inexpensively? Not so much.

I have three of them (all Mini's - two 635's and a 635BK - because I find them to be a better size for everyday carry), and I love them! Cool blade profile (which is surprisingly useful), smooth opening action, and perfect fit in my hand. The ti really keeps the weight down too.

I have owned most every model that Benchmade has produced since about 1995-96 (up until a few years ago), and the Mini Skirmish is in my top 3 easily: AFCK, Mini-Skirmish, 940S-02LE. McHenry & Williams 710 and 690 CF/Wood would round out the top 5 (not counting Bali's). However, I do have a Lum LFTi 760BK incoming, so we'll see where that one ends up on my list. . . .

P.S. Why is there no Benchmade sub-forum on BF?

My thoughts on the Skirmish? I love my Skirmish. I EDC it at least once a week. It is a sexy looking, stout blade and I love the solid "thwak" when flicked open. The deployment hole is a little slick, but the blade opens so smoothly, it's no problem. Opening and closing is as smooth as glass. Fit and finish on mine is wonderful and hair popping sharp. It's a big blade both in length and thickness, yet thin in the pocket being a TI frame lock.

It follows one of my favorite rules: If it's worth doing, it's worth over doing.

At some point, I will try to get another.

Get one, you won't be disappointed. Good luck on your search!

i guess bm has there on forum figured itz good enuf..

Spyderco has its own dedicated forum as well, but there is a Spydie sub-forum here. What gives?

(Not trying to hijack this thread, but I have been meaning to ask this question.)

I just picked one up, was looking for about a week before I found one I could afford... It's a great blade so far (got it a few days ago)... It's a MONSTER knife however, and I will be carrying this one only once in a while, only because it's illegal sizewise where I live. I definitely am searching for a "mini" skirmish (and I say "mini" cause it's a medium large folder IMO)... Carries very well for it's size since it is so thin, fit and finish is immaculate and I love the looks of it... It really is a beauty and the beast kinda knife... I say get one!! It's a great blade!!

IIRC, the company has to contact Bladeforums is they want a subforum on here. I haven't been here super long so I can't weigh in as to why Benchmade does not have one here. However, I am always on the Benchmade forum and its so slow.

That's correct. My "Mini" Skirmish is one of the largest carry folders I own! It's just a bit smaller than my 950 Rift.

miuamiu,

I found this one NIB at a local gun shop several months ago. It was tucked in the back of the display case with several other discontinued Benchmades. They were all marked at near MSRP, but MSRP from before they were discontinued was a bargain. Those high prices, and the fact it was a small gun shop were the probable reasons they never sold.

I took the Skirmish as well as several other discontinued Benchmades off their hands.

Prices won't go down, and will likely rise a bit more than where they are now before finding the market's limit.

It's a fantastic knife, like a giant, exotic Sebenza on steroids. It's one of the nicest Production Benchmades ever, probably among a handful of truly exceptional production knives from any manufacturer.

I think part of the reason for its' desirability is that it strikes a chord across a broad spectrum of knife enthusiasts--those who like Titanium framelocks, those who like truly large pocketknives, those who like thick, robust construction, those who like exotic, non-traditional designs, those who like high-grade steels and even those who normally don't like Benchmades in general.

Finding the Skirmish and several other discontinued Benchmades NIB was a complete fluke--a wonderful fluke, yes, but a fluke just the same.

Your best bet for a NIB example is right here on the exchange. Have cash set aside and be the first to say, "I'll take it."

A friend of mine who is an advanced collector of Smith and Wesson revolvers once said of collectible models, "You can't pay too much for them, you can just pay it too soon."

I don't know if the Skirmish will ever reach those heights of collectability, but I do know I'm happy to have mine and won't be letting it go.

Best,

Heekma

I'd like the Skirmish if it were not fancied up with decoration like a prom dress. A plain Jane Skirmish with no sequins or swirls would be great. And just one Spydie hole.

The 630 Skirmish is a keeper... a slutty looking keeper. See below for a size comparison.

That is, top down, Skirmish, ZT-301, Kershaw JYDII in Ti & SG2, a Wilson Combat/CRK Umnumzaan, and a Buck 172 Mayo TNT.

Stainz

Ya know Stainz,

The Skirmish notwithstanding, a person could have only those knives and have a mighty nice little collection going.

Seeing it next to the ZT drives the point home--this is a large knife.

Best,

Heekma
