Well I picked up my Spyderco Street beat & as I'm leaving the store I see in the case a small benchmade knife. I ask to look at it & I fell in love with this knife called the Benchmade Activator. It has carbon fiber handles & a neck sheath. $100.00 out the door. Is that a good price? Are these a good knife? & is this model better then the older winewood handle model....? Thanks!
BM makes three (3) Snody Activators. the 201 Activator+ is a large fixed blade. The model 210 is a small knife with a 2-1/8" blade. I suspect you're referring to the latter....
The BM-210 comes in two models: the 210 and the 210TK.
- The TK is designed for neck carry and comes with a Kydex sheath. It has black carbon fiber/grey G-10 scales and is
beautiful. S30V steel.
- The 210 model has D-2 steel and "winewood" scales (whatever the hell "winewood" is). It comes with a somewhat bulky but otherwise very nice bison leather belt sheath. It is otherwise exactly the same knife as the TK.
I own the 210TK and can tell you it is one fine little fixed blade knife. I've handled the 210 "winewood" and like it very much. In my opinion, $100 is WAY TOO MUCH for the 210, but a very good price for the 210TK.
You can get the 210 winewood D-2 knife on the internet for about $80...maybe even as low as $69 but I may be confusing it with another knife. The 210 usually costs the same as the 201 Activator+....don;t axe me why.
The 210TK will cost about $110.
I'm sorry man. I just re-read your post. You said it had carbon fiber and a neck sheath. Yes. $100 is a good price. Is it used? Even so, good buy.
