I'm looking for the knife that would be the result if a benchmade 940 and a spyderco delica 4 ffg got together and had a child......sort of. I have a 940-1501 and a delica, and I love them both. Both of them have some things that I would change if I could. I love the weight, thinness, and narrow width of the 940, but I prefer the blade on the delica. Is there a knife out there that is about the same width, thickness, and weight of a 940 but with a ffg blade with a little belly like the delica (minus the thumbhole to keep width down)?

Benchmade Griptillian 550 HG, I just got the urban trapper, but it is really thin, perfect edc for light use

Perhaps consider a regrind on the 940? It's not a service I currently offer, but I'm sure there's someone in the custom shop that can handle it.

Sheepfoot mini-griptilian would be the closest fit.

Near 3" blade, full liners, frn vs grivory, no choice and a little slope with jumping for your thumb. Plus, a hole.

I'm going to revive this. The urban trapper does look interesting. The problem is I am a lefty and I believe it is right side carry only.

How about a BM 531? Almost FFG, very thin, very light, cheaper than the 940...

For some reason I am not a huge fan of the BM 531 handle shape

The handle is an acquired taste, and not for everybody. Awesome carry though.

The Al Mar Ultralight Falcon would fit your needs perfectly, in my opinion.

I love my 531. I also love my 940 and Delica.

I was searching for the very same combination. I decided that the Caly 3 would be the perfect knife for me, but I really, really don't like CF. Lol, so I don't own one.

The mini Grip would be perfect if it had a flat grind. The 531 cuts very well, and I find BM's 154cm is easier to sharpen than VG10.

It's very similar to my Protech Godson handle, which I didn't think I'd like, but I love! Also being you are a lefty that axis lock is boss.

Maybe Benchmade 484 Nakamura or Spyderco Pattada (bit longer, thumb-hole but slender blade with a decent belly & nice aqute tip ...

I dint know why, but this is the spyderco that makes me think of the flatground spyderco version of a 940. I think slender, classy and silky smooth to represent the 940, but with a bit wider flat ground spyderco blade. Also, my father has a spyderco centofante 3 that reminds me more of a delicate that carries slim like a 940.

The Benchmade 531 on the left is a slim light carry with a ton of utility value and IMO a flatter blade that is more reminiscent of spyderco flat ground blade sans whole.

I've owned various 940s, a 531, and the Spyderco Caly 3 (can't speculate on the Caly 3.5 though). All of them eventually were sold for one reason or another. The most similar knives I've kept around are the drop point Spyderco UK Penknife, and the Spyderco Mantra 2. Both feature thin FFG blades and are very slim and narrow in pocket.
