I just want to share an awesome customer service experience that I had with Benchmade.
I was recently offered a Benchmade model 520 axis lock folder in a trade. Let me explain what the blade looked like...
It was completely wasted. The tip had been broken and re-ground, the edge had been poorly made with a high-speed course wheel-grinder:barf::barf::barf:, the black coating had been completely sanded off in an attempt to "polish" the face, and overall it was a sad ugly thing. On the upside, the handle and lock mechanism were in good condition -with only a handful of cosmetic scratches.
I called Benchmade before making the trade and talked with Micah (SP?) from the warranty department. I told her exactly what I was getting into, and asked if they would be able to replace the blade and what it might cost. She informed me that it would be $30 for a new satin blade and $40 for a new coated blade. I was shocked.
I thought it would be much more $$$, or not doable since I was not the original owner. I said, "thanks Micah," made the trade, and quickly boxed the knife up to be sent to Benchmade. This all happened within the last week, and I just got the knife BACK today!
I do not know what you all think, but in my book that is excellent customer service. $30 for a new blade seems like a steal. I sent the knife out days ago and already got it back within the same week (granted, I am in the same state). It came perfectly centered, with a hair popping edge.
I am as happy as a clam at high tide.
Thanks Benchmade!!!:thumbup::thumbup:
PS- Oh, and they replaced the pocket clip and checked all of the internal parts for free.
