Benchmade version of CRKT M16-14 ? Or at least better version ???

Mohawk Dave you made the right choice congrats! It is the toughest folder Benchmade makes even more so than the new 757 Vicar that I just traded for a LNIB 275 lol. You actually broke a pad lock open with that M16? Wow! That is pretty impressive to say the least. As for fixed blades its the same way here where I am they must be worn open unconcealed which is fine when it comes to the TDI nobody knows what it is except for cops as all the local cops also have TDI's of their own lol. As for which ZT I would personally go for the knifeworks edition M390 0350 its less than $170 and is as reliable as a hammer. After that the 0550 is a better Hinderer than actual Hinderers its got amazing ergos...300 series and 0200 are freaking enormous and are like walking around with a brick in your pocket. 0801 is the best production flipper there is Ive got 2 of those 3 0350's a 0301, 0200, 0566. My M16's just sit and do nothing. I got obsessed with them for some reason awhile ago. Ive got the expensive big dog titanium and titanium spearpoint and they just sit lol. Got won over by ZT in the midst of my M16 craze. Still that knifeworks limited edition is a screaming value with the M390 blade...let us know how you like the Adamas love mine wish I had gotten it sooner

Someone may have mentioned this already -- but KnifeWorks offers a Contego in M390, which is a fantastic stainless steel. The only thing I've noticed is the the jimping on the Contego is a tad aggressive and it can create hotspots after a while of cutting -- no big deal though. It's pretty slim when you're comparing it with knives like the Adamas, but still extremely strong and not too bad looking either. The other thing is that the KnifeWorks exclusive model has no glass breaker, and the scales are blue&black G10 that they smoothed down which isn't my thing -- I replaced them with the original scales because I prefer plain black.

Hey all. Just an update. Probably no new info to you guys but either way...

The Adamas is not as large as I thought/remember. It fits in the front pocket with a wallet of 5.11 pants just fine. Muscle memory has been learned in the last week regarding the angle to get the clip to slide over the Cordura lining of the 5.11s.

I do not notice the heft. However, I carry more weight than most (meh...probably not with this crowd). TDU belt with pants pulled up where they belong. Adamas, Gerber EAB, Fenix PD32 and Sharpie in mag pocket, wallet, & Galaxy cell. That makes for a fairly heavy pair of pants on a daily.

I thought I would miss big hilts like the M16-14 have, but due to the size of the Adamas, I find they are not needed or missed. I like aggressive G10, and the Adamas is pretty damn smooth. When I first got it I thought I may need/want to profile it different. But once again, the size of the handle in my hand prevents any movement/slip, thus negating the need for aggressive G10 grip.

The jimping at the thumb ramp seems a little smooth to me. If it was more aggressive, it would cause a hot spot. Don't know what I'm going to do with that yet. Too early to tell - need to use more.

It'd be nice if you could unlock (easily) with just the thumb, but as the lock needs to slide parallel, I need to use my thumb and forefinger. Once again muscle memory has set in. (If I really apply strong direct pressure I can slide it with my thumb). Maybe this will loosen up on tolerances or ???

Balance is great. It does not feel like a heavy knife. Solid. I can slowly and easily flick it open lightly. I don't need to "whip" it or have it bang open. Centered blade when shut. F&F is great from where I stand.

For grins I made a conscious count yesterday. 14x was used. From prying glued down laminate off a kitchen floor to test, open some packages from Snap On (Brown Santa showed up ) , cut some leather in the shop for Baldor buffer cover, etc.

I appreciate MOLLE and Cordura. The sheath is beautiful to me. Most guys say it's ugly etc. However, it rides HIGH on a belt. Way too high. I need to chicken wing my arm to pull the knife out. So, I either wear a thigh rig just to sheath the folder or the sheath sits in the gear room I guess...lol

So in the end, I am very pleased with the knife thus far. I have the Spyderco sharpener and can/do use it, but I need to "really" learn how to use..as in 100% tips and tricks etc.

EDIT: I have large hands and have noticed that if I place my thumb on the ramp it pushes the whole knife too far forward in my hand. My pinky finger will barely catch. However, if I utilize the whole belly with my fingers and place my thumb on the spine up past the ramp, it is a very controlled setting. The spine is wide enough to have a comfortable contact area for my thumb. I would only need to choke up on the knife like this when, say, cutting apple slices around the morning campfire. But none-the-less, there's my 2 pennies.
