Benchmade Volli

I've had my Volli for a couple of months now. Used as an EDC it really shines. Only complaint I've got is that the opening (spring) seems a little anemic. It doesn't open with much authority :(

Anyone else experience this?

I've had mine a few months now and it seems to open pretty quickly to me..maybe not quite with the authority of an auto Adamas, but as quickly as any assist with a blade this size and weight.

I de-assisted mine the moment I got it & been loving it even more!
It should have been like this in the first place....imo.

Considered it multiple times.

Couldn't see how it offered anything better than what I already owned so it gave me pause.

Now the prices of BM have changed, and I wish I had purchased one earlier.

Oh well, to those who pause.

This evening the UPS man dropped off my new Volli. After a couple of hours I would say this is a keeper.

Once wiping off the liberal use of BlueLube and was able to see the thing I really like it. First item was to replace the black thumbstuds with silver, my standard practice on satin blades and silver Axis bars. The blade is off-centered by only a degree or two, nothing to do there, not worth the trip back for not much. G-10 Scales are really great, grippy but not too much. In my pocket the knife stays put and I've owned real pocket eaters like the stock 520/525...this is nowhere as rough. A nice touch are the full nested liners and drilled out for weight loss.

There's nothing at all wrong with the flat ground drop point S30V blade, it's a real slicer and is arguably only one of the knives from 2013 I considered buying; this was not a mistake, I'm glad I did. Will get some pics up tomorrow in the light showing the difference swapping the studs makes.

So far this gets a

I got one a few weeks ago and de-assisted it immediately. I love this little knife. Way better than the 940 I was carrying for work.

Here's pics of mine with silver studs and, again mildly off-centered. I like how smooth the A/O is.

Nice knife Joe, I like you change out all my black thumb studs for silver ones on satin blades. I thought I was just weird but now I see there are more of us out there. :D

Joe,

Looks great!

I agree, very mildly off center but also agree nothing to do there though.

The silver stud's really do look so much better. Never really thought about it before but now you have me thinking about a few of my knives and how they would look with the silver stud's.

Looks really good!

Agreed fellas, most makers match black for black and same deal for silver. I think it just looks better that way...!

Update: the Volli has been in my pocket for a week now and I love the thing. It's put, maybe temporarily, a number of knives on the EDC listing on hold. I've opened boxes, mail, trimmed Christmas ribbons and most of the time was used in the kitchen helping with the food prep. (Sorry, no WD-40 gets used on this knife...)

What I like in the design is how smooth an A/O Axis delivers the blade. Then there's the sculpted (and rounded) G-10, which gets nice and grippy when damp and has no hot spots that I can find. On slimness; compared to my 585 this knife is much sleeker and surprisingly easy on my pants pockets - which I thought would be a negative but isn't.

Aside from a mildly off-center blade, yet clean grind bevels, this knife is a keeper and was worth waiting for!

Cheers,

Joe

My favorite part about the Volli is the thin flat ground blade, completely different from its cousin the Barrage.
