Benchmade warranty service, good or bad?

So I have a Benchmade full size griptilian with a lot of vertical blade play. I want to know how well they handle their customers. I love the knife, but the play keeps me from carrying it. It might be a stop pin issue, but it's really annoying. The knife was never hard used, just played with like everyone else does with their axis locks. I have only owned it for about 5 months. Does anyone else have this problem, or does anyone have experience with sending knives to benchmade, and how they handled you? I appreciate feedback! Thanks!

If you search a bit, you will not read many complaints at all. I sure have not seen much other than rave reviews and a lot of positivity. As with any company out there, the way you approach the request makes or breaks the experience (for the most part). When you send your knife in, always and I mean ALWAYS send in a typed letter explaining what you want and do not want done to the knife. It eliminates some margin of error in so far as making assumptions by the folks providing warranty/repair service. Also include your complete contact info, again just in case.

Thanks for the response! I would approach it very politely, and just see what they could do. I wouldn't care if I get a replacement, and it would be great if they could fix my knife. Thanks a lot for the tips!

They have good warranty service. I've sent in at least 3 or 4 knives over the years and have gotten them all back within 4 weeks, usually less. Just follow the directions on the warranty return label. If you have questions, I would definitely call instead of emailing.

I had a bit of a CS problem with them a while back, but in the end Benchmade really stepped up and everything ended well. I would not hesitate to buy another Benchmade product, or to send one in for repair. They are on my very short list of companies whom I trust to do the right thing.

I have had to send quite a few Benchmade knives in for repair. The service has been great every time. Turnaround time was good, and the services rendered were great. Edges came back acceptably sharp or better, nice and even, and the locks and actions were all adjusted to be excellent. Best of all there was no charge for any of it.
