anybody having issues with bm taking forever to turn around knives. My buddy sent my 665 apb in to get life sharp, and his grip for a new blade. They have had them since September, and just now got shipping confirmation on my 665. They told him they were waiting on blades to replace his grip and agreed to send him a new knife to replace his. This was over a month ago and still haven't sent his new knife out. Kinda makes me afraid to send in my volli that needs a blade due to the grind being off on the tip, from factory. Just wondering how everybody else was getting along with their turn around times.

I broke an omega spring on knife I got in Dec. Two week turn around. I was impressed with their service.A young Qc guy was outstanding But with their gun views it's my last for sure .
Shame to I like that 940.

Lets try to stick with the Op's warrenty issues on this thread guys. Apoligys if I sound like putz but thiera atleast 2 theads on the gun thing

Horrible warranty. My option for my broken Pacific cutlery international was either I get it back broken and they do nothing. Or I forfeit the knife and they seize it and in return give me a $75 dollar gift card only for their website where everything cost MSRP and the shipping was like $15 bucks.

I didn't even use the gift card, I sold it and vowed to never buy benchmade and this was way before the recent drama. If you want to see a "real" life time warranty look at the company snap on tools. When one of their products break they don't say ohh sorry sir we don't make that item or parts for it any more and then offer to return it to you with nothing done. They either fully refund you or they give you a comparable product.

I hope benchmade files chapter 11 from this recent drama and goes under.

The entire handle was cracked in half. I mean it wasn't in half but it had a thick crack running all the way through it.

I sent in a contego for blade play. It took a couple months to get it back and the issue was not corrected. I think i will send in my 940 for the same issue if its a run around again I think I give up on them. Its pretty rare i get a knife with blade play that cant be adjusted out but its happened to me twice now from benchmade.

yeah. I think im done with them. Think im going to trade off the 2 that I have and go with something else. I wont be buying another one, that's for sure.

I recently sent three knives into them, two for lifesharp and one for a broken omega spring. From the time delivered to return shipping was five business days. FAST!

Package should be here Wednesday.

i’ve sent three in in the past few months. a 490 that needed a new assist spring and a 580 that had a broken scale went in together back around sept. had both back in about 2 1/2 weeks. sent an 810 in for a broken omega spring last around the beginning of the month and it was back with me in less than 2 weeks.

also, they’re service was excellent. on top of the requested work, they replaced all of the screws & springs on all three knives. also, on the 580 they replaced both of the liners & scales, making it an almost new knife. they definitely did right by me

I’ve mostly just used their lifesharp service to sharpen my knives, but every once in a while I’ll ask them to oil one of my knives. Typically they’ll replace most of the hardware, oil the pivot and sharpen the blade. I’ve never had a service take more than 4 days from the time I drop it off until I get the call that it’s ready to pick up.

If you are having trouble with turn around times or trouble getting them to address the issue you’re seeing, I bet you’re asking for something out of the ordinary.

Not asking for anything strange. Broken blade on a griptillian and clean and sharpen a 665 apb. They started they were waiting on blades for the griptillian. The apb is done and just got shipping confirmation on it a couple of days ago. Still no word on the griptillian, even after they agreed to just replace it with a new knife. I might send my volli in to them and see if they do any better with it.

A little off topic , but how did the blade get broke ? I understand that it is your knife . And your decision on its use
By the way I had Reeves sebenza that cracked. Very rare . But it can and does happen

The grip is my buddies knife, And blade got broke cause he was using it for a screw driver, like an idiot. He sent the money with the knife for a new blade, they just didn't seem to have any blades to replace it with or something.

They’re changing all the Grip blades to S30V. I wonder if that held up the repair with all the blades going to new production?

might have. but they agreed a month ago to just send him a new knife, and still haven't shipped it out yet. Maybe we just having bad luck with them this go round, But makes me want to go with a different company from here on out.

Well, I guess Benchmade recently made some changes to the griptilian lineup, so maybe that’s what caused problems. Admittedly, if they said they’d send a replacement I’d expect them to actually do it.

As for the delay in processing either knife: I deal with returns and service items (not in the knife industry), and one thing that really slows the process down is unmarked or incorrectly marked packages. Is it possible that your friend forgot to write the correct RMA or service number on the box before it was shipped?

Possible. But he got confirmation in Oct. That they received them. No clue what the hold up is. But I should have my 665 back this week hopefully, then I will probably send it down the road for something else.

I remember reading your issue, and you really should just drop it. Wasnt the knife extremely old, thus them not having parts? And a comparable item didnt exist? Quit being a baby about this please. You're spreading false information to someone asking a genuine question about the warranty.

The only dealings i've had with benchmade's customer service was them sending me clips. And that usually took the two or so weeks that seems to be the norm.

That's exactly what is was. They told me the knife was discontinued and they no longer stock parts, so fixing it wasn't a option.
The two options they gave me was
1. they return the knife to me in the same condition with nothing done.
2.$75 dollar credit to their website.

I didn't have another option lol. That's what it was and I'm not happy with it.

Being as the prices on the bechmade site is MRSP with high shipping cost they would have had to give me double the credit they did to actually satisfy me with a Pacific cutlery balisong. That or give me a refurbished or used one they still had in production.

They just wanted to short change and get the consumer to spend more money.

I deal with Snap on tool warranty a lot. That is a real lifetime warranty. Benchmade says they have a lifetime warranty.
