Benchmade

Benchmade was the first company that I bought modern knives from and I still like their products. I own several with axis locks and they work very well. They lock up well, operate smoothly and are easy to use. You can buy lots of different Benchmade models for a lot less than the price range in the first post.

After thousands of dollars and years of collecting, i've pretty much settled on Benchmade as my favorite knife company. Their designs are just sleek, mature and they just work. Of course there's always a few bad apples in any barrel, but for the most part, it's all i use now days. I carry my 710 in M390 and alternate between that and the Contego M390 and Crooked River. The 940 is always in my pocket as backup. No desire for many others knives now days. I'm over frame locks and liner locks, sick of vertical play, blade tang and lock face angles not being good for long term use, slipping locks on frame locks with steel inserts. Axis lock beats them all in my opinion. Only other lock i would say is better/stronger is the Triad from cold steel, but it's not half as easy or enjoyable to use.

Bendhmade now offers customization of any of its knives. You can build your own selecting steel, handle material, serrations, color and laser etching. You can even submit your own drawing to have etched on. You can even do tiger stripes or camo on the blade itself.

Perhaps, your own laser designo makers mark. You are that famous designer.

Try a griptillian to get a feel for it
That's exactly what I did and while some people complain about the grptillian having a cheap feal due to the plastic scales... it suits me very well. True, it is a thick knife. But that thickness gives you extra grip! And the blade shape is the most suited for my needs (food prep and general cuting chores, no stabbing). Is probably also the cheapst you can get... any other Benchmade is much more expensive!
