Went online to buy some mini grips as presents. Holy cow they are like $20 more than what they were less than aa year ago. So that put a damper on that idea. Them i came on here and read the post how benchmade isn't letting the dealers do any discounts. That is disappointing. Benchmade makes my favorite knives but by them not allowing dealers to create discounts they aren't a very good value now. Guess people will be getting Spyderco's for Christmas

You're looking in the wrong places. Still available in some well known sites with an extra 5% off to boot.

I just found this out earlier this week and it is very dissapointing am most likely not going to buy the BM's as presents or for myself like I planned. Well looks like Spyderco and KAI industries will be getting some of my business.

Count me out too. The only Benchmades I would be willing to pay the 20-30% price increase on are the Adamas (which I have already) the Rift, and maybe the Contego. $100+ for a standard Griptilian when the Manix 2 in G10 is $88, forget it. I like certain Benchmades, but not that much.

I bought a s90v manix xl, southard, and domino since I heard this news. It'll be hard to go back to benchmade after this stunt.

Knifeworks has them with the discount, and if you buy now they are offing an additional 5% off discount for the holiday.

+1 on knifeworks they have excellent shipping and service, Im lucky enough to have a local Benchmade dealer that beats most online pricing so I use them

I would never pay the full msrp on a benchmade, no matter how much i like their stuff,
I like their knives at a good price,

Forget the door-busters, coupons, and “friends and family” deals. U.S. shoppers on the whole will be paying more over the next few weeks than they do the rest of the year. Turns out, retail profit margins tend to be higher during the holiday period, despite all the promotions.

Among the 15 largest U.S. retailers, operating margins in the holiday quarter last year were 11 percent, compared with 9 percent in the preceding nine months. Amid the year-end shopping frenzy, these companies padded their bottom lines, on average, by roughly one-quarter. ( From Bloomberg Bussinessweek ) 25% sounds familiar.

I easily found a full size grip for 80 bucks, the mini is about the same. Maybe instead of whinning about it, you should have purchased earlier in the year when the discounts were present. Seems like a bunch of BM hate in this thread. Knives go up in price, that's the way of the world.

See Benchmade? This is the thanks you get for allowing deep discounts for as long as you were able while others did not. The true colors come out. Now people would rather buy a quality imported product than your still "made in USA" offerings. How soon we forget.
Jeebus!!

Those places that have the discounts still have announced the enactment of UPP pricing by Benchmade and will be discontinuing the coupons shortly :(

I found the full size grip for ~$75 shipped and the mini for ~$65
Get your BMs while they're still reasonably priced!!!!!!

Just look on the secondary market. I get most of my knives from our own Exchange these days.

It's not a matter of deep discounts or quality imports. Retailers had to offer those discounts for Benchmades to be competitive with other 'made in the USA' offerings.

A $135 940 stacks up very well to a Spyderco PM2/Military/Manix2, ZT 0350/0566/0770

A $180 940 does not. That's Hogue, ZT0801 territory.

Kinda. You're assuming the Hogue and ZT outperforms the 940, which is questionable and only answered by the market demand for each.

For the extra $20, I would choose a knife that's made in the USA and has the excellent customer service and cheap sharpening. Benchmade is a no-brainer for me.
