The griptilians fill the role of work knife very well and my new megumi fills my casual gentleman/traditional niche.

Now after handling multiple bushcrafter knives I have decided on the BM bushcrafter as it just fits me and the look of it appeals to me. Im not looking to be exclusively Benchmade but for some reason their products are the ones that fit what im looking for.

Even though I sold my Griptilian and am now an Emerson junkie, I will say that if one decides to carry or use only a folding knife daily, the Benchmade Griptilian is the perfect EDC knife. There is no excuse about steel or handle size/material, since the options are endless. Not to mention the different blade shapes offered.

The options are endless for Grip handle material ?

BM has done/is doing several exclusives for various places with different colors of G10. There are also a plethora of custom/aftermarket options. Micarta, G10, wood, combos of all, anything you want.

I have the green bushcrafter. I love the knife, it's built like a tank and it stands up to everything I put it through at work (most hacking small branches off trees) and stays better than useable sharp. Benchmade nailed the heat treat on the S30V and it sharpens up with a couple swipes on a spyderco ultra fine sharp maker stone.

That being said, the leather sheath is really bad IMHO. Working in the woods requires me to not be worried about losing my knife, and I just couldn't trust the sheath especially after the belt loop and retention loop stretched out. I fixed the issue by ordering the benchmade kydex sheath for it and I have no complaints about it. The sheath doesn't dull the knife, and the retention is good enough for me to trust it in upsidedown carry on my cruising vest.

I'm just leaving a Benchmade only phase, and I think the quality to value ratio is quite good. I still carry mine fairly often, especially my adamas folder and my 940-1. I got bitten by the Spyderco bug and the Sebenza bug at the same time, and I'm starting to feel the emerson bug coming on... (my wallet is certainly feeling it)

Enjoy the bushcrafter :)

I just wish the Grip was made with full steel liners. I know it's still very strong, it just feels so cheap...

I love benchmade's axis folders. The technical quality of some of their builds really draws my attention. The partial-length recessed steel liners, the highly machined aluminum handles, and the smooth-as-glass action of the axis lock all result in a sleek light weight and still very strong pocketknife.

Good to see you've found some you like
I've never handled their Bushcrafter. It looks like a great design.

I want to own a variety but cant justify buying a knife I dont like to hold or find aesthetically pleasing. I will be looking into custom knife makers soon enough I guess.
Even BM hunting knives look and feel good. Maybe I will look into getting a custom hunting knife so I can be a bit more diverse.

Even though I have probably 200+ knives, the 162 is my favorite fixed blade. I've used it pretty hard the last couple of years and it's never let me down. Never rusts and just touch-up on a diamond stone once in a while and keep truckin'.

I like the Adamas 375 fixed as a back-up knife as well.
