Benchmades New Boxes

Love the blade design. I bought two, one for me and one for a friend. BM's Reverse Tanto is one of my favorite blade designs overall and the sheepfoot on the 551HG is closer to BM's Reverse Tanto then a traditional blunt round tip Sheepsfoot with a straight edge. It has a nice amount of belly and is a nice balance between the two that I like very much.

Nice... I had a new OD Green and black 556 that I sold awhile back. I really liked the looks, but wasn't keen on coated blades, because some had said they don't hold up as well as the early coated blades. Now I am starting to like them, and the concern of coating wear is diminishing lol...

I don't have one yet, but I really like the new boxes. MUCH nicer than the old ones. The tabs on all of my boxes are messed up looking.
I know, I'm not collecting boxes, but it still bugs me :D

Do any of the knives that came in the new boxes have the plastic bags on them in the black bags? My 761 did not come with one. I had it ordered in for me and I asked where the plastic bag was and was told it did not come with on. I saw the same person Friday and he told me he had received a new 470-1 in the new style box and it did not have a plastic bag either. Just wondering if this is the way it is now.

No plastic bags here either.

The early coating, the BT2, sucked. It scratched if you sneezed on it.

My first 705 had a coated blade. I used that knife a lot, and it was in pocket regularly for a couple years. It actually held up fairly well. The new coatings are better ?
I like the looks of the coated blades. Maybe I need to try one out. The only coated blade I have at the moment is a CPM-M4 Mini Grip, but that is a different coating than standard production

Does a shipping box really matter that much? I only keep mine in case I sell a knife.

Thanks for posting the new boxes. I recieved my 903 in the mail yesterday in the new box and wondered if it was an authentic because the box was so different. Ordered it online so i was being cautious. Looks like it is the real deal. Bad no reason not to trust the seller, but the box was drastically different and it only had the silk bag and the care instructions in the box.

Btw, the new box is very nice and the mini stryker is even better than the box...lol.

Imagine that, a posting about new boxes...the statement above sums it up.

Actually, to some yes. Especially if you are buying or selling. The original box, including it's condition can add or detract value from the overall sale price. Especially when it comes to collectors and serious hobbyists.

My post was meant to be informational also as there was no announcement. I figured it was only a matter of time before someone got a new box and posted wondering if it was legit or not. Just trying to give the community a heads up and while we're at it why not get an opinion or two...

I agree regarding holding onto the original box. If kept with the knife and in good condition it can increase the value. I always prefer to buy or trade for a knife with the complete packaging, especially if it's an older model.

Regarding posting about the new boxes, I think they look good; more professional if that was their intent. Just chuckling, that what would prompt me to buy a 2015 model would be the newly designed box. :D

i dunno... i think i have to be extra careful when picking up these boxes so the bottom doesn't drop out with the knife. Seems to me it's a safety concern that the old boxes wouldn't have.

I have been wanting a sheeps foot blade for a very long time.
That new box looks great also, thank you PBCG!
