Anyone got any info on the new benchmade hawk? i just stumbled across it but benchmade's site doesn't seem to have any info about it. looks to be tacticool like so many other modern hawks with a hefty price to match. looks heavy too. same design as the other Killian hawk no one could get ahold of

heres a link to where i found it.

That is pretty heavy (36.8 oz). I assume it's because of the thickness (0.36 in). They're not joking around with this one- it's a beast.

I'm not really feeling this new 'hawk from Benchmade. A little too much on the tactical side for me, not to mention the sky-high price tag.

I have to say that I kind of like it.

Just not quite $300 worth of like.

Now thats a spike i can dig. I don't know why, I never actually used a spike, but a flat bar with a knife grind looks to me to be more useful.

I wish it were made with made with an eye, and sold without haft. Seems like they won't do a collaboration or source alternate hafting, despite the fact the weight of a pure benchmade hawk is a bit much. Glad they got in the game though, at least they are watching the market they serve and thats important.

i give it 3 out of 5 for effort. :)

That's what I was thinking. A more mass-produced, slightly different scale K5.

I wouldn't call them tomahawks though...more like a scaled-down fireman's axe. But that's just me...

Yeah. It's shaped like a tomahawk, but The K5 is just too damned heavy. I used mine for demolition work when I was still in the construction biz. It works great for that. I wouldn't want to get into any kind of combat with it. If you don't get 'em on that first swing, they're gonna poke you before you could recover.

The BM hawk looks great to me but ,just like Emerson's hawk, it's seems pretty expensive for something most people won't carry that much. I have Sog's Fusion hawk which costs about $50 and I'm also planning on getting the new CS Trench hawk which will cost about the same. And yes, of course, they're made out of cheaper materials which doesn't matter that much to me because [ I'll venture to say] like most people I just want them because they're cool.

Would that guys last name happen to be Killian who designed the K5? Good that there where no copyright infringements made.

Not bad looking but as others have suggested, I like it about $150 worth.

If I were designing one like that, I'd skeletonize the handle under the scales and add about 2-3" to the overall length. Should weigh about the same and have more reach/striking force.
