Benchmade's reputation

Benchmade builds really nice knives, though I haven't bought any lately - last one being 940. I've never had a problem with any of them over at least the last 20 years. Not one problem.

B billwill we get it. You’ve taken every opportunity since you’ve been here to complain about Benchmade, a brand you have admitted yourself you have no experience with, because you apparently just don’t like plastic and high prices. Fine.

Please stop opening old threads to keep saying the same thing. This thread hadn’t been respond to for six years.
I'm new here so I apologize thou don't think rudeness is the correct response.

That's not being rude, just honest. But since you apologized which means among other things you regret what you did and won't repeat it, it's all good.

I don't own any benchmade products thou they use alot of plastic handels and the prices are way up there. American made kershaws are a much better bet aluminum handels and good blade steel and a better looking knife in general and looking into highte quality pro tech especially autos. Microtech is also way above kershaw thou qc and customer service can be a problem. The shootout users plastic handels the live wire is aluminum and magnacut for 100 dollars less
You’ve already been warned too stop bumping years old threads just to bitch about Benchmade, a warning you should have listened to.

Take your trolling to another platform, you’re done here.

I own a few older late 90's early 2000's models and they were (still are) great fit and finish. Even an old import red class is a no blade wobble tightly fitted little thing. I've only this last few years gotten back into buying higher end knives including several more Benchmades. It would have to be a one by one line up to really describe them and not sound like I'm generalizing. Pivot screws that won't stay tight or start backing out, looks like 60 grit belt grinder edges, and I finally broke a pair of omega springs. Are they all like that? Of course not, but it feels like none of them should be. Now all those things are something I can easily make better and somewhat begrudgingly don't mind doing even if I shouldn't have to in the first place.

And from other threads here I have to wonder what everyone should expect in the first place. I get a folder with a noticeable amount of blade wobble and it bothers me when it doesn't seem to bother others here. Belt grinder edge? That's a "toothy" preferred edge.... But they aren't all like that... Is it a problem to Benchmade? Seems like a safe assumption they have an allowable amount of tolerance.

One issue I've recently had isn't just a Benchmade unique issue. I had no idea I have to mail a knife back to the factory for a simple part swap. I love the 940 but no way am I dropping one back into the mail and crossing my fingers. And yet to someone else it may be a great thing they can just mail it back and get it repaired. So once again this may be a matter of preference or perspective.

Either way I have another 940 in the mail hoping it actually gets to me and not the wrong mail box. Can't be that upset if I'm still buying them. ;)
