A little back story first.....
I received a very badly abused Benchmade mini grip 556 from my brother in law (it was his edc and was carried and not cleaned for over a year).
He had used a bench grinder to try to sharpen it numerous times
; it ended being unrecognizable and you couldn't even tell what blade design it was in the end.
The pocket clip screw also had fallen out and the hole that was left was all rusted up. There was dirt, grime and rust in every possible spot (axis lock, screws, liners, and blade).
The omega springs had rusted out and the blade was taped shut to ship it to Benchmade's warranty department.
On with the warranty....
I had asked for a new clip and clip screws, a new blade ($30 fee), and new omega springs.....
What I got back was basically a new knife but with the same polymer handle scales (which were a little dinged up). They were however cleaned up and the dings are hardly noticeable.
They did this without me asking and they went above and beyond what I had expected.
I wish I had pictures of the knife before but stupidly didn't even think about it.
The only way I can describe my experience is like watching a phoenix rise from ashes
Kudos to Benchmade's lifesharp warranty. You made me a happy man today.
To anyone thinking about sending in a knife to Benchmade's warranty department, don't hesitate. You will NOT be disappointed!!!
