Benchmades???

....close. My basic plasticky tanto full size Grip came with a bad Omega spring on one side of the Axis lock which led to some sloppy action right out of the box rendering it due to resulting diagonal iffy lockups unusable until I sent it in to BM. It took 2 months to come back but it came back perfect. That is the only issue Ive ever had with Omega springs. Ive had my 710 for a couple years now and have truly beat on it during that time. The action of its Springs are still as solid as the day I got it.

Benchmades are great. One of the best knife brands. I prefer Spyderco. Then Benchmade.

Comparison of what you can get for you money . I haven't bought a new benchmade in a while and the only one in my list is the carbon fiber 940 . I did thought about buying the Contego but went with the ZT .

Stays sharp, you know what I like huh? Enlighten me brother. When BM changed the prices there were so many whiney threads it probably set a Bf record for bunched panties. All I'm saying is to write off a brand because they have changed a policy is ludicrous. I you get upset becuse I used a brand already mentioned in this thread as a comparison I don't know what to tell you. Spyderco is the brand most often used to compare to BM.

It's not really whining in that sense of the word. People are complaining about the MAP change because they want Benchmade to stop enforcing the MAP policy. They are right to do so; MAP policy is not consumer friendly at all, because it only raises the prices for the consumer, and prevents consumers from getting deals from vendors who bought in bulk just for that purpose. They could have raised the MAP, and let the vendors decide what they wanted to price them at, instead of forcing the price raise on the consumers. After all, the vendors aren't *really* the ones who are buying; they are buying them to sell them, based on consumer demand. But it probably would have made it easier for the vendors as well.

Benchmade was my first high dollar knife and ive been hooked since. Not a flaw to be found on my large bone collector that is about to hit the woods turkey hunting with me in a few minutes. Buy one and you wont look back.

The Axis lock is a super lock. Extremely strong, positive locking, and so easy to use it's silly.

I had a lot of Benchmades, gave most of them to a relative, because I don't use the larger ones anymore. I have the small ones left.

I do have an issue though, the small ones handle's are too short by about a quarter inch and I have a small hand.
It doesn't bother most people so I guess the company will not change design for me.:D

I've never owned one and have never even touched one but it seems to me there are other company's using the same materials or close to it for half the cost are they really worth the price I'd love to hear your guys thoughts and opinions

BM makes quality blades. They either appeal to you or they don't.

What's a good knife making company with great. Customer service I don't mind paying extra if the customer service is excellent in my opinion that's everything because if something goes wrong with the product I want to know that I'm going to be taken care of because I just spent all that money so any suggestions with that in mind

I've handled all sorts of knives ranging into the prices of benchmades and higher and lower but as we all know some products are just simply over priced because of the name not material or craftsmen ship or feel just simply because of the logo That's just what I was rea
Really wondering

Run-on sentences FTW.

I've owned many run of the mill Knife brands. Kershaw, SOG, Spyderco, etc.... When I picked up my Benchmade, it was like picking up an extension of my hand and the axis lock is super strong and super fast to deploy or unlock a blade. Like many others have said, Made in the USA (check), Unparalleled Customer Service (check), Quality materials (check), Good designs (check). Sometimes you have to spend some coin for greatness.

I love my Benchmade Griptillian and would not trade it. It is a great knife.

On the topic of MAP, there was probably a reason for it. Benchmade wouldn't go out of there way to tick off customers by raising prices, just because they could. I believe there is a story behind the enforced MAP, but we will probably never know what it is. I give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

I have a few BMs and love my 710 but I've never put them on a pedestal. They make good production knives but I do have issues with some of the QC and their recent price policy changes. There's just no value there anymore so I've pretty much gone another direction.

This. Spyderco is such a better value these days it seems since BM's latest price increase.

I dont care for Benchsmade knives at all. Ive handled many and what you get for price doesnt come close to ZT or Spyderco. I dont know anything about BM CS but I cant see how anyone can be better that ZT or Spyderco in that department. Next time your at knife store pick up and handle a 200$ Benchsmade than do same with a ZT and you tell me whats better deal and built for the money. Or even look at the materials alone

They are good knives. I have one, I never use it and I must say I don't like it. It's a personal thing and has nothing to do with the knife. It's a fine knife, it just never was or never will be what I want or need. I really wanted to try something with the Axis lock system though.

I have gifted a bunch of griptillians to friends, I trust their work. With that said, when it came time to buy a replacement for my lost Sebbie/Emerson... I went with another Emerson (next one won't be an Emerson, but it won't be a BM either).

I think it's more personal though than anything reflecting the quality of their work... Maybe I am rocking the boat but I just find most of the BM's I've encountered as soul-less. They just... Don't do anything for me. As for how the Emerson/spartan looking sebbie spike my apple, I have no idea. /shrug.

Edit: I remember there was a reason I stopped coming to this forum. So, I went to the BM website and found the 860 Bedlam and now I want to buy it... /Shrug. So much for BM being soul-less huh... Amazing how much new stuff is on the market now.
When I look at these Benchmade 940's and 943's, the first word that comes to mind is "soulless".View attachment 426305

BM knives always appeared lacking as a value proposition to me but I took a limb with a 531 for thin pants. I haven't used it enough to offer a definitive opinion, although I'd still say they don't offer high value knives for the most part, but I've become much more positive after handling my 531. I've got a ritter grip on the way that will give me more experience with the brand as well.
