I guess the preliminary question is why would you want to use rather expensive PM stainless blade steel for the guard? Why not use 416 or something similar?
I know its silly but when i bought the steel i got a large sheet and it just happens that i have scrap piece left over that is approximately the right size.
Is it hardened ? Never try to straighten a hardened blade at less than 400 F.
To bend annealed stock as I assume you want to do , heat to 1200 F and try that. You might have to do it a bit at a time. Otherwise you have to heat ove the critical bend, then go throuugh the hardening process completely.
