i may have asked this question before but i need to bend some nickle silver flat bar 3/16 thick will heating it up with a portable propane torch make it easier and what is the down side to using heat? thanks guys

downside is its easy to melt i would guess

Cupro-nickel alloys (nickel silver) do not bend well when hot. Don't heat it and bend while red or it will break. Heat it up to a dull red and as soon as the red color is gone (black heat), stick in a bucket of water. That will anneal it soft. You can then bend it fairly safely.
