Benefit of Titanium?

Light , Very strong , can be finished in many different ways , wont rust .

Titanium has disadvantages though too. Such as screws that thread directly into Ti are generally more likely to strip the threads. Also Ti as a lockface tends to stick to the opposite lockface on the tang of the blade. Means a Titanium lockface will wear away faster. Consequentially they have titanium framelocks with steel lockbar tabs as well.

titanium hard material to work with , especially treading it quite difficult and tools expensive , most likely tread wasnt made properly to begin with .

Thank you all. The answers are great. I never knew why people bought Ti handles before.

Thanks again

The neat thing about threading Titanium is if you break a tap, you can dissolve it with battery acid. Don’t try that with steel or Aluminum.

When I’m buying a product, such as a knife or flashlight, IMO titanium > aluminum > any material heavier than titanium.
Weight is important. Durability and oxide resistance can trump weight. Aluminum, especially 6000 & 7000 series alloys, are great but they are far from the toughness & oxide resistance of any titanium alloy.
My own personal objections come into play as well. I will pay $150 for a Made in USA aluminum Surefire before I would buy a comparable titanium light made in China. I would either scrimp and save to buy a Ti handled folder over aluminum or go with an FRN knife.

sorry im a newbie.

What is the benefit of having framelocks made with titanium? Is there any benefit other than weight reduction?

Thanks
The most important use for Ti. Is it will hold spring tension when bent making it particularly suitable for framelocks.
