Benefits of "old timey" why do so many still carry and EDC?

Is the pattern named "Szalonnaszo" ? Sorry for the spelling... That's a mighty fine knife !

It could be one of my steak knives, for sure. It reminds of a Case pattern, the Doctor Knife or the Melon Tester, perhaps. I'm no longer a great folder enthusiast but this one could get me going.

Good comparisons. The knife I bought just previously was the Boker Urban Trapper in Titanium and they are also similar.

Similar but not really the same. As a long time Böker customer, I appreciate the german quality but I find less and less satisfaction in their designs. I prefer your Hungarian Doctor Knife, especially with stag scales...

Thinking about this next. It's what inspired the Spyderco Hungarian: the "Headed Crook":

I still very much like the Buck 110. Not sure if it’s considered “old timey” but it’s definitely a classic. The size , weight , lock and feel all appeal to me.

I started with a Buck 110 in the 70's, but found it a little bulky and heavy in the pocket, although an awesome knife with great history. I moved on to a Puma 470 lockback, much slimmer and lighter with the aluminum bolsters. Also seemed to get, and stay, sharper than the Buck. Still have the Buck, and 2 of the Pumas. The Puma can be flipped open with the right moves, for those that like OHO.

Recently picked up a Puma Prince, which is essentially the same knife with stag handles and brass bolsters. Gorgeous knife!

I carry both traditional and modern. They both have their place in different usage. My traditional is a Buck 303 cadet 3.25 closed and easy in the pocket but it is a very useful knife with three different types blades and there are specific tasks I use each one for. The slim smaller size will go into tight spots where my modern edc won’t go. I think depending on what a persons lifestyle is and what they do is plenty of reason for still making use of traditional knives. It’s not just the nostalgia or old timey looks that attracted me to them and I started out with a stockman and they are a great tool. Once in awhile I forget and leave it at home and I find out how much I depend on it daily.

I like the aging process of bone, antler, wood, brass and similar natural materials usually found in traditionals..
I also like the ageless, proven designs. But OTOH, I need one hand opening in my EDC knives.

I love both though I carry a PM2 or PM3 the majority of the time..I just feel like the PM2 and PM3 are as close to perfect as it gets,I love everything about them..they feel great in hand holding it behind the choil and feel just as great when you choke up on the blade using the choil and thumb ramp.I love the compression lock, not only does it lockup nice and tight but it allows for easy one handed opening and closing(the fidget factor is a bonus)..I’m a sucker for Spyderco’s wide leaf shaped blade with the full flat grind as well,it makes for an excellent slicer..with that being said, the beautiful thing about the knife world is there is something for everyone regardless of your taste and style.I personally love both newer models as well as the long proven classics.I will always love SAKs,Buck 110s and 112s as well as the many different makes and models of the traditional style Case knives,Boker knives and Opinel knives..can’t forget the classic Italian stiletto knives either..same goes for fixed blades, the Buck 119 will always be one of my favorites..I will always love the KaBar WW2 Fighting Knife and the old WW1 trench knife, the Mark 1 and Mark 2..the classic Old Hickory knives..my favorite hunting knife I have is an old Case fixed blade my dad gave me,not sure what model it is though..my dad also gave me a nice old Puma knife
