id love to know what the weights are on the new fbm and fsh....

sure love that Fusion Steel Heart and Battle Mistress,, I have one of the straight handle Hearts and Battle Mistress's,,,who are those Khukuri's made by?

Say, that khuk to the right of the Basic 9 looks familiar...

Jeremy

PS GalaxyTech those are Himalayan Imports khukris. Check out their forum here at BFC for more info and good deals (gotta be quick, though).

oh, ok I was on their web site looking around just the other day,,,they sure have some beautiful Khukuri's

khukuri pic made into a link

wasnt to sure if i should put it up in the first place, but its the only pic i have of my basic nine that shows size.

the new steel heart and battle mistress are both competing against my basic 9 for what i end up keeping, and i cant help but feel that its gonna be a hard battle.... i went from the bm-e to the basic nine, because of a set of reasons.

the bme's handle was blocky, and did cause almost instant blisters on my index finger (wich could be modified to work better). and the bm-e was handle weighted. having the full protruding tang on such a large handle ended up pulling a lot of the weight of the knife towards the handle, creating a very "fast" knife, when i really wanted a dedicated chopper.

wich the basic 9 is. the basic 9 has the clip point style blade, wich i can do without if the rest of the knife is better. it has the resiprene-c handle that is quite comfortable, though pretty much only one grip applies for it. and its blade heavy, but not so much so that it wears the arm down quickly.

ive never handled the straight handles, wich i would imagine the new battle mistress would handle more like (i didnt handle it at blade west :( very dumb decision). the bmf has the wider blade of the straight handles, and has the new fusion handle (top of the e-handle, bottome of the s-handles, with better palm swells and texturing). it appears to be a smaller handle then the e-handles, and in general more comfortable then both, but its still a reletively big handle with a lot of full thickness metal in it.

so im wondering more then anything how the new mistress is weighted compared to the basic 9. if its weited more like the bm-e with most of the weight being just next to the hand so its really fast, but you have to choke down to really get chopping power, or more like the b9. if it is weighted forward, i'll be extremely happy to buy and use it. if its like the bm-e id rather stick with the m-infi :(.

wich is the 3rd point, m-infi vs. infi. only seen m-infi break :(.

same goes for the steel heart, how it weighs compared to the b-9, but i realy do want that extra blade length.

anyone remember how they felt in the hand that can compare them to the basic 9/bm-e/shbm?

i might get run out of here for saying it but the bm-e is the best mistress ever. as seth says it is not so blade heavy making it more versatile yet with the handle drop it can still drop a tree in a few whacks. the fbm looks really blade heavy and with the blade being wider i think it might reduce chopping efficiency :(
i could be wrong though and hopefully so but if i'm right the fbm still has the looks, but for a user i stick with my tried and true bm-e

I don't think we'd run you out of here for stating a reasoned defense of your BMe. We're a bunch of open minded guys (and the odd gal(which is not to mean that the gal is odd(or that there is only one odd gal(oh shut up Bill)))).

Enjoy!

Cheers,
BJB :D
