Bent the beard on a Rattlehawk today chopping wood. Should it be replaced? At first I was thinking just bending it back would be okay, but if it bent there once, won't it bend again?

Send it back in and we will take a look at it. If it needs replaced we will replace it. Just send a note with it saying what happened to cause it to bend. No worries brother. We will take care of you.

Customer service of the gods!

How the heck do you bend one of these... You must be stout!

Holy crap Dan!!! You bent a HAWK?!??!??
You don't have an Ox named Babe by any chance, do you?!?

At least you don't have to sweat getting your hawk fixed!!!

Yeah, that's pretty crazy that you were able to bend the beard! I've throttled mine pretty hard, and never had anything like that happen yet.

Sorry guys, no pics. It bent a little and I decided to bend it back rather than send it in so I wouldn't be without it. If it bends again I'll take some pics before I send it in.

If I was ordering a custom, I would probably ask for one without the material milled out on the beard. It is as pointy as any knife I own!

Bent the beard in the same spot again today. Tried to bend it back and this happened:

Opps. Guess I figured it might happen. On it's way back to the swamp, I'm sure they'll take care of me ;)

Sorry that happened. We will def take care of you. That Rattle Hawk looks like it went through a war zone.

sweet jesus! That's just incredible!

You usified the heck out of that thing!

Considering the beating that you give em, this might be a good idea to request if they end up having to make you a new one

Sooo.... is the swamp interested in re-selling that rattlehawk at a discount? Because I am interested...

I don't know... the beard bending and breaking may indicate a problem with the entire tool or it may simply indicate excessive stress on that little section. I trust the bussekin steel selection and heat-treatment, that there isn't really a problem with the tool other than that the beard couldn't handle Dan's stress on it. The main cutting-edge is just a little shorter now. Obviously the beard wasn't intended to break, so Dan gets his warranty, but is that a reason to relegate this hawk to the scrap heap? Another user (one who actually prefers a shorter beard, maybe a flatter beard) could get years and years of enjoyment out of her  Kinda like breaking the very tip off of your Rodent Solution - the tools is still intact and functional, just needs a slight modification... Now if they think the entire HEAD might fail or that the hawk might be RE-submitted for warranty service someday, no way should they re-sell it. But I'm just putting forward my interest in case the Swamp wants to make a little money off of someone else's warranty submission. :)

Well it's not like it's gonna break any more... The weakest part is already gone. ;)

I don't mean for that reason.

Someone would buy it for cheap and then try to send it in and get a new one.

Easy solution: stamp an XXXX on it like Kershaw does with their blems, don't offer any more warranty service on it.
