Hi All - I recently came across Bento Box Shop which appears to have quite a few Spyderco Exclusive/Sprint runs, even some that are surprisingly in stock given how quickly limited Paras tend to sell out. Although I placed an order since I'm a sucker for sprint Para 3 runs, I have since come across plenty of negative feedback about this site. I'm just curious what their deal is. It appears they have deep ties to Spyderco directly but have been accused of poor customer service in the past and perhaps even shady business? I'm genuinely curious what the deal is here if anyone has any insight; I've only just begun down the Spyderco rabbit hole in the past month or so and trying to figure out who the good and bad players are!

I believe it usually refers to the higher price or the costly shipping from bento that is the typical complaint. Don’t quote me

I've made around 8 purchases from them. Their shipping costs are very inflated but if you package a non sprint with one of their exclusives you get a pretty good savings or just double up and the shipping doesn't hit quite as hard. I won't lie it sucks paying $15 for shipping but it's also nice to be able to get a K390 Para 2 months after release because they weren't $149 with free shipping.

I too have made a number of purchases from them without any problems. Good service as I recall.

People complain about the shipping mostly. However my PM2 (DLC M390 and blue scales) was 200 bucks, which is a bit much, but I had to have the configuration so I paid the $215. I love the knife, I carry it, I use it, and its just money.

Oh, people also complain that they don't accept returns for any reason, and if you have a defect to send it to Spyderco for warranty. I don't see a problem with this, but some people do. I would buy from Bento again, especially if they do a blue DLC Shaman or Manix 2 XL maybe?

when I was collecting Spyderco's I had ordered lots of sprint runs from them, never had any problems although the shipping is a little steep I would say, but one can usually find what there looking for.

I’ve ordered from them with zero issue.
As for shipping costs, if that’s a problem for some..... you gotta pay to play in this game.

So do I have to include a sprint-run item or the shipping of any two items together will be $15?

Years ago I emailed them when the orange Dodo sprint was coming out. They held one for me and emailed me when they got them in stock. I’ve been a fan ever since.
Yes, the prices are a bit inflated, but no different than buying a sprint or discontinued on the exchange.

If you like generally paying flipper prices at an actual retailer, and overpaying for shipping, BBS might be a good place to start.

Their exclusives are often more pricey than other dealers for similar steel, however they offer some very nice exclusives. The shipping cost is a pain but as others have said the bundles offer some value. I have ordered multiple times without issue or need to return and have a fondness for their "smurf" blue exclusive color.
