Hey all,

Recently have had the chance to pick up a PM2 blue sprint run from bento. Just got a chance to go to the PO box and finally check it out. To my unfortunate luck the blade had a scratch on the side (a pretty big one, about an 3/4 of an inch), and there was something off about the finish of the blade (some spots looked polished, the others looked satin). I didn't mind too much about the finish but the scratch was really bugging me since this was suppose to be a "collector" and not a user.

Thought id shoot bentobox customer service an email asking if I can exchange it for another one/come up with a solution. Got this email back stating that all their sales are final (located at the bottom of their page) and that I should contact spyderco warranty and repair.

Been doing this for a while, and for the first time I can say I am truly disappointed in a company (Bento, not spyderco). I think it was a lesson learned and thought id bring it up to everyone's attention so everyone can be vigilant in their purchases while reading the fine print.

Edit: upon closer inspection, found a couple more scratches (varying in length from 1/2 inch and lower) near the tip :(. Ill give the buddies at spyderco a call, hopefully we can figure something out.

I might be inclined to reverse the credit card charge and let Bento Box figure out how to solve the problem.

Second that. You paid for a new knife, but received one that was not in new condition--I'd issue a chargeback since the sale was fraudulent.

i was gona order one for them..glad i didnt as im in canada as well might have gotten the same one lol..no but that sucks for sure

True. I know mistakes happen, and sometimes a lemon gets by, but you would expect them to own up to it/try to rectify the issue. Ill look into PP right now and see what can be done

Ok, so Iv figured out how to open a paypal dispute. Will keep you guys posted. Hopefully it prompts bento to fix the issue.

Paid with Paypal, not sure if I could do it through them? Would a dispute work?
I had a successful PayPal dispute as a buyer when the items shipped were not as described in an eBay listing. I know the conventional wisdom is that if you receive a package at all that PayPal considers it a done deal, but I prevailed in my dispute.

Hopefully my luck will be the same.

Paypal won't do squat about getting you a replacement in exchange for a damaged item, only a refund after you have shipped the damaged item back to the seller at your expense. If you do return it be sure to get delivery confirmation. The seller has already indicated by the "all sales are final" response that they don't want to exchange it. If you want an exchange your best option might be to contact Spyderco.

I've never used them because their price is high, but I didn't know about the no return. As much as they charge you would think they would swap that one out for you.

I'm pretty sure PP will get you your money back, but you may have to send the knife back first. Ask PP about that, and call them if you have to.

Hey Nader

Sorry to hear about your experience with bento box and there unwillingness to conpromise. As others have stated their prices are over the top when it comes to sprint run and not to mention the $50 shipping charge to Canada. As a fellow Canadian,I was wondering how did they ship you knife?
