Does anyone know who carries them in stock? I have failed twice now buying one online. Most sites say out of stock etc.

If I do find them, there marked up 20-30%:thumbdn:

Or, does anyone know of another MAPP torch in the same price range of $30-40?

Thanks guys/gals!

Chris

ETA: I will be using a small 1 burner forge. I have also been looking at what others have said on the HF torch they have for $20. Any input on that would be great as well.

That model is discontinued. They replaced them with a new model with automatic igniter and stainless burner. But, they're almost double the price.

Yeah, I see the trigger start models etc. I dont need all of that:(

Ah well, might fork up the cash and just get one of the disc. models.

What kind of forge are you planning to use? I've used mine in a 1 brick and currently in a small lined forge.

Before forking out the money, there may be a better option, and possibly even a more durable set-up.

If you've not seen it, you should check out Ray Roger's website. He has several tutorial pages showing forges he's built for little money, including a small forced air propane forge.

Here's a link to one of them. http://www.rayrogers.com/miniforge.htm

NStricker,

I have a small lined forge a buddy made for me awhile back. Its about 3"x9" inside the forge.

I have seen Ray's as well as a few others. I might even end up going with IG's plans.

For now though I am just looking at playing with fire, this forge will do just fine:thumbup: I saw a JTH7 go for about $45 shipped the other day....should have jumped on it....lol I will just keep an eye out.:D

That's a good size. Mine is about the same diameter, but a little longer--12 inches or so.

Tai has experimented with the HF weed burners in the past. You might want to PM him and see what he thought of it.

Will do buddy. Thanks for the info as well.

I will be running MAPP so my only concern is the HF torches only say Propane and nothing about being rated for both.

I will shoot Tai a PM and see what we can make of it. Might even save me a couple bucks:thumbup:

Have a safe New Year NStricker!

Thanks--you have a safe holiday as well.

For what it's worth, when running the small forges I didn't see a huge difference in temps for MAPP and propane. MAPP probably got to temp faster. I've used propane in mine for both HT and forging, but haven't attempted any welding.
