Besides a "Knife Nut" what do you consider yourself?

I think I like knives so much because my uncle would come over and talk about them with me when I was a little boy. And from there I suppose it took.

Ok..Christian college student studying theology and environmental science and always working on some sort of conservation project who would rather be in the woods with my closest friends than in the classroom.

I have broad interests, the most recent of which is typewriter collecting and repair.

There's a joke that gives perspective to those afflicted with the typewriter collecting bug. It goes like this:

"There was once a typewriter collector who had finally found and purchased a long sought after 'Groma Kolibri' typewriter to add to his collection. The seller lived 200 miles away. The collector, unwilling to trust his hard won acquisition to the uncertain fortunes of a shipping company, decided to make the drive to personally pick up his new prize. He set out after work one evening and picked up the "beautiful" Groma.

With great care, he placed the typewriter on the back seat where it sat alone in a position of honor bright and gleaming. On the long drive back, however, the collector started to get tired and he pulled off the highway into a Denny's for a cup of coffee.

Almost as soon as he sat down and ordered his coffee he suddenly realized that, although he had locked his car, the coveted Groma Kolibri typewriter was sitting on the back seat in plain sight of anyone who passed by.

Jumping up from his chair, he raced back out to the parking lot to check on his typewriter. But it was too late. As he approached his car he could see broken glass where the back window had been. Looking in at the rear seat he could see that there, next to his Groma Kolibri, were three more typewriters."

I grew up in the outdoors and really like to be outside. When I was a kid the yard was my playstation.

I was really into mountain biking and racing for about 7 years but a blood disease doesn't allow me to do much except an easy short ride these days.

Being born on the 4th of July I'm also a bit of a pyro. I have the somewhat strange hobby of making fireworks. It's pretty neat to be able to make your own gunpowder that is hotter than what you can buy and put together a device that works great and lights up the sky with a satisfying boom. There is also a little chemistry knowledge involved which I liked when I was getting my engineering degree so enjoy now with the pyrotechnics.

I like to hunt occasionally but that is mainly just about getting out in the woods. I like to put a little meat in the freezer that I know doesn't have all the chemical injections store meat has. I'm not a diehard though and happy if I get just one deer a season.

I also like to ride my 4 wheelers and go fishing for the same reason of being outside. I just got an airboat which is a whole new and different kind of fun. Being able to go just about anywhere on water or land is pretty neat and since you sit pretty high there is almost a feeling of flying.

Those are things I enjoy. I like knives because of their usefulness and how they can be so simple yet have a complexity to them. Just holding and playing with them gives me enjoyment for some unknown reason. Not much else does that for me but I do like all gadgets.

Anyways thats some of the things I am interested in. I would call myself a red blooded American male who likes the outdoors and loud noises. I consider myself an outdoorsman and a Florida cracker, born and raised.

I like to do lots of things; Read, think, travel, spend days up in the mountains on horseback and fly aeroplanes, (preferably upside down).

I also enjoy sitting out on the back verandah enjoying a cold beer on a warm day and watching the horses graze.
