Wow, dident think this would generate so many responses!

So, I will list my other favorite 20 something dollar knife.

Victorinox Trailmaster, the non-one handed blade version.
Great usefull blade along with the other tools. This one is always in my truck!

Before it was robbed (by my X) my Cold Steel Mini-Pal was by far one of my most used, and most readily available knives. Think about it...stick it with your keys, and you've got ALOT of serrated cutting power at your finger tips everywhere you go, without upsetting the ignorant!

Cold Steel Mini - Pal and Ready Edge...well worth the $$$

Old Hickory paring knife (carbon steel @ 55 to 58 Rc) isn't a bad toolbox knife, and they're way cheaper than $20 at Wally World. Really the only thing dislike about the line are their handles. There are also the Green River knives.

I Bought a few knives at once form someone and it came with a kabar dozier. As I was waiting for them to come in the mail a friend of mine mentioned that he was looking to get one. I figured how good can a twenty dollar knife be. So I siad why would you want one of those. He said it looks like it will be exactly what i need, it has the clip on the same end as the lanyard hole. And appears to be a decent knife. I said well your in luck I have one on the way and you can have it. Needless to say he was thrilled. When it arrived i checked it out and said why did I tell him he could have this. I called him and said hurry and pick this up before i change my mind.

Nothing posted here for awhile, so I'll stir the pot.

I like my $9 Okapi. This is a South African peasant knife that looks like a French Laguiole. It's light and comfortable for its size. It has a carbon-steel blade that comes dull but gets sharp easily enough. In its way, I find it a refreshing change from the high-tech wonders we're used to seeing from modern American makers. It's like carrying something from a century or two ago. DO NOT assume old design automatically means inferior design. Okapis, like Opinels (another 100+ year-old design), are functional enough to earn a place in modern pockets. Plus they're interesting. How many knives do you see with a backspring mounted on top of the handle, not inlaid into it? This sucker is strong; the blade really snaps open, half-open, or shut. How many do you see that are flat ground on the reverse side only? This puts the cutting edge exactly where you see the edge of the blade, if you're right-handed, not in the middle of the blade where you can't see it and have to guess at its exact location. I got mine from Ragnar at www.ragweedforge.com. He has other interesting "world knives," with an especially nice list of Scandinavian ones. Great prices, flawless service. I recommend his site without reservation.

Handle can be customized, has a neat collar lock, and most any model they sell is 10-20 USD. Had one since the late 80's still going strong, nice convex grind, sharp ouutta the case, harrd steel!
