Getting knives for the guys in my girlfriend's family for christmas, and was hoping to keep it to $25 or under a person. I was thinking somewhere in the 3" blade range, but if you guys have good reasons to go shorter or longer, I'm all ears.

So far my choices are:
Ka-Bar Folding Hunter (or skinner)
Byrd Meadowlark FRN
Blade-Tech Ganyana Lite
Buck Canoe 389
Buck Nobleman

Any from that crowd that stand out, or obvious choices I forgot to find?

KA-BAR Dozier Folding Hunter. Do it and you'll have some very happy recepients. Not to mention choice in different colors.

Seam to be good knifes all of them. What suits them best. Your not living in former sovjet union so its possible to by them different patterns to suit eatch and everyone the best.

And the case sodbuster as one more to think about.

A little over 3 inch but the Ontario RAT1 at USD 27 or so is one tough knife. AUS 8 steel and great liner lock.

Boker Chad Los Banos knives make GREAT gifts. My friend has been carrying his trance for a year. I've only sharpened it twice. He tells me all the time how much easier it makes life when you've got a sharp knife like that on ya.

Subcom series Chad los banos boker knives are great gifts too. The advantage the Chad Los Banos have over alot of other knives in that price range are the amazing ergonomics.

Hi The_mac -

I would do Victorinox Waiters.

You can get them at Amazon for well under your budget, and people who are not "knife people" will still appreciate the quality and functionality of the piece.

best regards -

Victorinox Alox Cadet. I think the Alox handles are classier and make a nicer gift than the regular red plastic handles. Look around you'll find them under $25.

I can't argue with any of the suggestion, except that I don't much care for SAK. You can add one more to the list, though, the Queen Country Cousin. It's very similar to the Case Sodbuster Jr, but with Queen's D2 steel.

Rat-1 is probably the most knife for the money on the current market, but it's a bit big for EDC for city people.
