If I was to buy a folding knife for edc. Sd and or utility uses what would be my best option.I'll throw two in right now how about emerson snubby qcq-14 snubby and spyderco zdp-189 caly 3.other opinions??:D:):D:);)

Emerson Combat Karambit...I don't carry mine day to day, but when I travel to states with a 3" rule it's what I bring. I carry a Super CQC-7 otherwise.

Kershaw Leeks are a great choice - the TiZDP189 is very nice. I also alternate between a Benchmade Mini-grip and Mini-Presidio - all 3" or less.

How much do you want to spend?
If you want over $300, I would suggest looking at the small Sebenza. If you are looking at under $300, then I would also suggest that you look at the Kershaw Mini Cyclone, with ZDP-189 blade, and titanium frame lock. The other choices you have chosen are excellent too.

omaha-beenglockin and T.K.C. are on the right track - how much are you willing to spend and what kind of design/lock do you want?

There are literally dozens of folders under 3" out there from $5 to over $300. The lock style you want will determine the price to some degree.

That said, if money is no object, check out the CRK small Sebenza . . . a truly remarkable knife.

The small Sebbie lists for $330 but you can find them used on this forum and e-bay. CRK will refinish the handles and sharpen the blade for just a few bucks.

If you're looking for the ultimate sub 3" folder with a $300 limit, then I'd say look around for a small Sebenza. It'll last you a lifetime, then you can get it refurbished & have something to pass on to one of your kids.

Otherwise, I'd probably look at the Kershaw mini-Cyclone ZDP, maybe a Bradley Alias II, or even a Spyderco ZDP Delica.

I will toss the Strider PT into the ring. It is a great folder that someone forgot to tell it that is was a small blade.

I found the Emerson Karambit blade a great utility , for cutting cat5 cable sheathing , opening boxes , etc.

Spyderco Waved Delica 4. (Emerson's CQC-14 is stronger, but the Delica has no CQC or S.D. markings).

Any 3"-bladed or under knife, designed by Chad Los Banos.

I'll give another nod to the Small Sebenza. For under $100 a Benchmade Mini-Grip is a great knife too.

I am not much for the smaller blades. That said, I have been thinking about a smaller edc, just for situations where carrying a 4"or greater blade might not be wise. The one knife I keep coming back too is the Spyderco Caly w/zdp and carbon fiber. This just looks like it would be a great all around user, and I like the fact that the clip is mounted high and that it is very discreet, being a wire clip.

Small Sebenza
Don't got one. Probably never will. But if I had $300 to spend on a knife, that is what I would spend it on.

+1 for the Ritter Grip. Also the Buck Mayo TNT, Spyderco Delica and Caly 3 in ZDP, Kershaw Blur SG2 and Mini Cyclone ZDP. All excellent choices.

I second the Strider PT. Its pricey, but a fantastic little knife. I've also got a BM Sequel and mini-Rittergrip but the PT is my favourite.
