Hello blade forums. This is my first post here so sorry if something similar has already been posted. I have many many folding knives probably like most of you here but my biggest has a 3 1/4 inch blade on it. I'm looking to get a 4 to 5 inch folding knife however I'm not looking to spend 100 to 200 dollars on one. Id like to go as cheap as possible but my limit would be about 50 dollars. Any suggestions will be appreciated thanks.

They also make a 5 1/2" blade too... called the XL.

DedRok Thank you so much that knife is exactly what I was looking for I'm probably going to order the XL asap after a little more research on the knife!:)

Spyderco Szabo.

Mr. Rat said his limit was $50, so that rules out the 710 and Szabo. In keeping with what Mr. Ded opined, I would say that the "best" for just about anything in the 4" - 5" range under $50 or so is the Cold Steel large Voyager. There aren't a lot of decent competitors in the >4" and <$50 category that come to mind, though I bet you guyses will be able to come up with some.

So just file that away for safekeeping, Mr. Rat: large Voyager. It has a lot going for it - hand-filling scales, full flat grind, nice belly and maybe the best lock in the industry.

Oops, didn't see that. For just a little more money, get a CS Spartan.

Having both XL and L clip point Voyager I'd have to say that the L is a better EDC knife. The XL is huge.

Both are big sharp cutting tools though.

Well thanks for all your help guys, I'm probably getting the cold steel voyager XL because i want it big! Charlie did bring up the spartan and that knife looks sweet with only a 5 dollar price difference so i may get that.

Spyderco Endura. Can get it in ZDP-189 steel full flat ground and still have some money left for something else!

The Endura is sub 4". What's with you guys? [I know, you love the Endura. I get it. I have about 10 of them too].

If you want big get a CS "rajah II" you can cut down trees with it. Just as long as you don't mind the crappy blade steel that CS uses for their folders.
