I have Ontario's Spec-Plus Bolo, and last week, I used it for gathering firewood at an icelandic youth camp i volunteer at, near Gimli, MB. That SOB could CHOP! Because of the kukri-ish design, i wouldn't choose it for food preparation, but I managed to hack through a tree the size the size of my calf in 45 seconds(my girlfriend timed me, all the while snapping pictures and giggling).
My only complaint is that the rubbery handle gave me some pretty bad blisters, but I guess it's my fault for not wearing gloves.
The Colt Trailblazer hatchet I brought for comparison chopped better, but not so much as to warrant packing a knife AND a hatchet, when one big knife will do.
The Bolo probably isn't the model you're looking for, I'm just commenting on the great quality of these knives.
