Best 700+ lumen flashlight for $100-150 ???

i've got a TK-45 and i'm well amazed at it's output.

the only downside is the beam is more of a spread than a spot and it cannot be adjusted/focused.

that said, the low power mode is plenty of light for most purposes (i find anyways) and the batteries will last for yonks on that power setting.

crank it up to 740 Lumens (or thereabouts) and battery life plummets to an hour and a half.

lots of light though.

Wooo, my TK35 is coming tonight.

Hope I'm as lucky and get one with a nice tint, centered emitter, and no doughnut hole.

Let us know how it goes. I'm really enjoying mine.

Will do. I got my Redilast 2900mAH batteries last night so they're all charged and ready to go. I'll post some pictures too (not beamshots, too cold out). I was afraid I'd get the light before the batteries, but this worked out well :)

Ok, here are some shots:

My friend showed me his Surefire G2. It is a good light but I wanted something with more options, power and run time. I got the Fenix PD31 and love it. Really great light for the size and price. Then I went for more power in a small package and got the TK35. It is really something, very bright with good throw and flood. This will satisfy me for awhile until a more powerful one comes up that is still compact. I really do not want to go any larger than the TK35.

Look into the Thrunite Catapult V2 XM-L if you don't have a throw light. It's quite amazing what it can do. The good thing is that you can remove or add the battery tube extension to allow an extra 18650 cell or two CR123 batteries, that gives you the choice of more power or compactness

These are not my pictures

Very very good thrower, compared to equally high end lights:

The Cat V2 does not run on 1X 18650, and is only recommended on low for 2 CR123s. ;)

There's a thread at CPF about the S12, I'm not impressed. It's not 800 lumens OTF for very long before it starts throttling down. I mean it's cool they can get that much from a light so small, but I don't want something that is down to 500 lumens after 15 minutes.

You're right. A single 18650 or 2 123's just can't handle the XM-L at 3Amps

In theory it does, but users have trouble doing it, thanks for the correction!

I also read every page and the Charts. The marketing for this light is very shoddy to say the least. You cannot market it at 800lumens for the entire 90 minutes when it trickles down to "protect" the Emitter from burning up

Fenix really makes a good product? i was kind of talked out of them as being kinda cheap chinese made lights? I like my surefires and have an Inova Inforce but they all eat batteries like crazy!
I go out of my way to avoid buying things made in China but I like my Fenix and 4Sevens lights so much I sold my Surefire.Run time on the Surefire wasn't to good. When my daughter became a R.N.,I bought her a 4sevens pen light.I was so impressed with that tiny pen light that I bought another one for myself.

Here is my bad attempt at a comparison. I can't go anywhere to do a better one because of the snow. My Olight M30 still hangs in there pretty well, but it's easy to see that the TK35 has a much brighter and bigger hotspot, as well as brighter spill. M30 has a little wider spill, but surely not as bad as something like the Catapult V2. That thing has a tiny spill compared to these, and I like the tradeoff.

Anyone care to remind me why people use MagLites?

Great comparison shots jfindon. I'm continually impressed with my tk35 and love the size, shape, and user interface.

Thanks. It's hard to make the pictures do it justice.

I'm really liking mine too. I've been looking for a worthy upgrade to my M30 for about a year, I wanted something no larger than the M30 itself but never found anything until the TK35 came out. Not only is it smaller, but quite a bit brighter too.

Some of you guys made me do it............I got the TK35 a couple of days ago and it is AWESOME!! I can't believe how bright this thing is.

I still like my G2/Malkoff for it's size and power but there is no comparison in brightness.
