OK, so the ASH-2 hasn't been announced yet (and may be 7") and the Basic 8 LE hasn't shipped yet.

Imagine all four in front of you :very_drunk:

How would you rank 'em?

For a carried user, Basic 8, SAR 8, then everything else sorted lightest to heaviest.

I love my NMSFNO. I have not had a FSH yet. But I could see how the FSH could win with the grind and being A little lighter. The rest of the list I agree with safety man

Nmsfno is awesome and really well balanced for the size. I have a feeling the basic 8 will be awesome as well but may be slightly blade heavy like most res-c larger blades. Haven't touched an SFNO.

I'd put the nmsfno On top.

Well you really can't go wrong with any of those. For me it comes down to just two knives -- with the HHFSH coming out on top over the incredible NMSFNO

The Team Gemini and SARGE-7 are also very close to 8" blades - about 7.75" each, and should be very close to the dimensions of the B8 (although more neutral balance).

When I get the B8, my Bussekin 8ish inchers will be - B-8, TGLB, SAR-8, SARGE-7 & TT Regulator. B-8 and SARGE-7 will be the most used combined with a lightweight 7" saw.

SAR-8. It really should be mentioned because it's better than the rest in my opinion. And YES I have owned a FSH, NMFSH, still have a NMSFNO and a SAR 8.

I would guess the B8 would be my next favorite but I don't have one.

Next is NMSFNO. The handle is way more comfortable than the fusion handles.

Then FSH. I'd go NMFSH over FSH.

Then the hypothetical ASH2.

Sorry, bad camera angle. FSH has it but not by much.

No apologies necessary my friend, I just was blown away for a minute thinking I have been missing something so obvious for so long (not that it would be the first time):o

Thanks for the reply!

For an all rounder in that size range, I like the SARGE 7. Its 3/4" shorter than the SAR 8 and weighs 4oz less. The grind and edge are much thinner than the NMSFNO. It may fall a little short in the chopping department compared to the others but makes up for it in cutting ability.

This weighs 21 ounces:

Together, these weigh 20 ounces:
