Best all around khukris?

For "all around" in that particular size. WWII seems to be generally accepted.
I remember in one of the thread .. I guess the thread was posted sometimes in 1999 or 2000 .. in there most of Khukurinuts agreed that 18" WW II is considered as the most versatile Khukuri around!

Anyhow .. with so many new models .. new experiences might change the previously generally accepted opinion!

I have a CAK in 16.5", as well as a 15" AK. (I have several others too!)

I now like the 15AK better than the CAK. I hope to convert the CAK to a one pin hidden tang handle someday.

I was told that horn was better as a handle, as it gives a better grip. I did not agree with that before, but now I do. My CAK is wood, the 15AK is horn.

I love the AK blade shape aesthetically. I like my 25" Sirupati also!

I really like the 12" AK's too. very handy. I would rather have one of those than a similar sized Bowie.

Now I've gone and done it! I'll probably start sharking the DOTDs again soon!

:o :foot:

Tom

PS, If I could have only one, =15AK. I had a BAS once, never have owned a WWII

Tom there are some that will no doubt disagree with me, even yourself,;) :p but IMO a well finished wood handle gives me just as good a grip as does horn, but then I prefer wood anyway. Too me horn is too slick when my hand gets sweaty. YMMV.
A good coat of wax seems to do the trick on a super smooth wood handle, might work with horn as well, never tried it though. (idea) ;) :D
The wax works sorta like resin and makes the grip somewhat tacky.

I'll give it a try, because i do like wood better. i feel more comfortable working with it. maybe I just need to get a good wood handle on my CAK. I have plenty of nice English walnut chunks to work with.

take care,

Tom
