Best all purpose Spyderco

Only one? The FRN FFG Delica because it is inexpensive for what you get, it is light, a great slicer, extremely versatile and tough, and it is legal almost everywhere in the USA. (sub 3" blade)

A Caly 3 in ZDP carbon fiber is even better. Great looking with smooth action, a better slicer than Delica and a great gentleman's knife.

Police 3 G10 (I don't have one yet but I think this might be the only Spyderco folder that I really want)

I don't own it yet, but I'm going to go with a waved Delica.

If I had to make my own knife, it would be the Atlantic Salt PE with a wave. In fact, I can't really understand why all the Salts don't come with the wave standard, unless there are some business/legal issues there. It just makes sense to be able to deploy a knife quickly and one-handed on the water (think fishhook accident, etc.). A waved Salt I would be so "all-purpose" that I wouldn't need another knife for most activities. Pretty please??

My tenacious has been used for alot of tasks and the steel is not the greatest at edge retention but it is easy to sharpen and the lock is sturdy for a $30-40 knife.

I would say that the best all-purpose Spyderco would be one from the Sage series. It's about average size; nice looking enough to carry with dress-casual wear; and rugged enough for most cutting tasks.

I like the Ti Military with the CPM S-90V blade. You have to buy two knives to put this combination together.

I can't think of a single Spyderco that stands out above all others. They all excel at something and not at something else. The Stretch II is probably one that is best for the average EDC use. I also love the Manix II (even after I saw the torture test vid and lock failure ;)) for something a little more substantial. Over all general use, it's hard to top the Endura/Delica pair.

I don't know about you, but I use my knives properly even using them hard. They rarely get sharp wacks to the backside of the spine

those "torture tests" are pretty shit in my opinion, other than just testing what a lock can take. Not realistic at all. Unless you really just don't know a knives purpose.

Probably Military for most versatile all-around, followed by Para, whichhas less blade length, and then Stretch 2 which trades strength for cutting power IME.

As realistic as crash tests for cars. Torture tests indicate how particular things perform when subjected to torture. And yes if you work at carpentry or construction, sometimes you inadvertently whack your knife hard on the spine.Of course, knife use in the office is mostly opening packages and cutting food, so no hard use there at all.

Accidents will happen. It doesn’t happen in normal working conditions, but I have repeatedly knocked the back of a folder on something by accident while working in a (very) confined space.

Normally not a problem, but a knife with a liner lock once closed on me. I have no problems with liner locks in general, but I don’t use that specific knife anymore.

Light, versatile and H1 steel. Also a convenient size for EDC.

If I could own only two, one of the knifes would be a Delica.

Military is the best all-round Spydie.

If you have a problem with the size, then the Para 2. ;)

Actually was thinking of this last week.

Endura 4 FRN, PE

Mine has been carried off and on for about three years and used with little care. It still is solid and works for my needs.
