check out speedy metals. got some pretty large stock. and tiny brass rods. whatever you need. speedymetals.com . not tryin to spam or nothing but this is where i get steel from. and you can custom order size and length to fit your exact needs. pay by the inch kind of thing.

Another vote for the SeaRobin anvil. He is doing another limited run of them if you want to pick one up. If you are serious about wanting a anvil dedicated to knife making I would definitely consider purchasing one, especially as he quit making them for a time and only recently announced that he would be making a few more. Chuck is very knowledgeable and a nice guy to boot.

Jymm Hoffman makes some nice anvils if you want to buy new at an affordable price. The advantage with these is that they have nice crisp edges. You would eventually add a bit of a radius after you used it awhile.
