Best assisted opening knife

KERSHAW all the way.
Mini-Cylone ZDP, and the Blur SG2
they are the bomb, but pricy.
Thank God the bucks stay in good ole USA!!

I have a Kershaw 1560 which fits my hand perfectly. I've carried it for several years and am very happy with it. It's easy to sharpen and holds an edge well.

I just picked up a SOG flash II and am quite pleased with it.Just a easy flick of the stud and she fires hard.I like the way the pocket clip puts the knife all the way down in your pocket and also the side lock release is much easier to operate than the linerlock. We'll see how it holds up,but it seems quite stout.

Buy a Kershaw Leek and find out what an inexpensive quality folder is, and what a good AO should do.

You won't regret it.

I just got a Kershaw SG2 Blur in the mail today. I really love this knife....it is awsome! I would highly suggest any of the Blurs, they feel great in the hand and are almost the perfect size. The fit and finish is also great. My next Kershaw AO is going to be the Mini-Cyclone, but I want the Ti version. I have messed with a couple of Benchmade's AOs, SOG's, ect. and none of them feel right. The Sogs come in second to the Kershaws, but the Benchmades fire the hardest IMO.

BTW: the last time I checked,
www.eknifeworks.com
has the plain edge satin Leek for $34.99w/free shipping! It would be an inexpensive way to try out a Kershaw.

I have a Buck Tempest with a 3.25" blade and it quickly opens with a nice snap and is very study. I use it for my EDC and it has no blade play and the blade is very sharp and useful for cutting packages open or anything else I may come across.

wow thanks for all the great suggestion I'm going to have to look into all of them. the kershaw knives seem to be very popular without out very many bad reviews so theres a good chance ill be getting at least a kershaw. thanks for all the help.

The worst thing about the Kershaw line is..... there are too many good Speed Safe assisted openers to choose from Decisions. Decisions.
Its like those potato chips ... you can't buy just one!

Definitekly kershaw. The Blackout I had was faster to open and get into use then my Benchmade Presidio auto, where you have to index your hand and pull back on the bar to release mechanism. Hell of a lot cheaper too.

The Darrel Ralph Gunhammer is probably one of the best assisted openers. Expensive though...

For production knives I'm with the crowd, Kershaw :)

If you decide on the Leek, make sure you look at the Born on Date and get one Jul 07 or later. Kershaw upgraded blade steel with that date. It's better now. Let the rest of the public get the older ones.

Not to keen on the Kershaw's.
The SOG Trident in the plain (non-serrated) blade gets my vote. I haven't found a thing yet I can't do with it

Waiting on a Benchmade Nitrous Stryker at the moment... let you know what i think.

I am wondering about the same thing myself for my next knife purchase

i am currently considering the leek ( i want a rainbow one, if i can still find it somewhere)
and the cyclone

so i'd prob go for a kershaw

I have a Kershaw Boa and it is fine; probably would see more pocket time if the safety didn't have a habit of slipping into "on" position when the blade is open and making it a bit dangerous to close.
Also have a BM Apparition that is real nice, although the opening action took a bit of getting used to.
Unfortunately I way prefer an auto open so both AOs run a distant second from most of my autos, at least as far as pocket time goes.
all da best,
rats...

My Kershaw Leek S30V and Needs Work AOs work flawlessly, but my Leek Damascus tends to hang up just prior to locking open. I've lubed and adjusted the friction screw, but not as smooth as the others.
Still, I would definitely recommend Kershaws for AO.

KERSHAW!
Sog is next to kershaw, as I have their trident, but Kershaw is definitely the best IMO
I'd get started with a Blur--best bang for buck with an awesome knife.

I have a Blur in my pocket everyday, opens very well , stay sharp, works for me. there may be better but under a hundred bucks, got my blur about 3 1/2 years ago for around $40. Kershaw :thumbdn: Pat

Carried one of these for years ( Everyday) - when the AO spring finally broke -sent it to K'shaw and they replaced it with a brand new Boa - their CS desirves (spl?) the awesome reputation. More importantly - the tip on the Boa is really robust -in my use ( which definitly includes prying) I never broke the tip off of one of these. A just plain tough knife for a very fair price.
