Best bait for catching mice.

The best mouse trap I made is similar to the one shown above. Take a bucket, put a wire through a soda can the long way so it goes from the center of the bottom to the center of the top (don't put it through the openning where you drank) and attach the wire from one side of the bucket to the other so that the can can spin. (like the jar in the above picture.) Put peanut butter on two of the rounded sides of can opposite of each other so that it is weight balanced, some water in bottom, and ramp going up the side of bucket to end of wire. The mice climb the ramp and try to cross the wire to the can with peanut butter on it. The can spins, the mouse falls in the water and either drowns if deep enough or cant jump out if it's only an inch or so. The trap reloads itself. I caught 6 mice the first night I used it, 4 the second, 2 the third and no more mouse problem. Got the idea from Maxim magazine. It is a great trap for a barn, garage or warehouse where you want to leave it a while.

My Mom normally takes chips and puts peanut butter on them. She left it in the closet for 2 days and we had 2 dead and one alive still eating the chip.

Bird seed is like crack for mice..use a small amount of peanut butter and sprinkle on some seed onto to it..works great!
Best of luck, Steve

When the weather starts getting cold outside,we always get bunch of mice that want to move inside,I even started finding soybeans that they were bringing in from the field next door. There were a couple of cats roaming around outside for a couple years and we had very little trouble but for some reason, this year they were back.I caught 14 in just over a weeks time using 2-3 traps, all baited with peanut butter, and I think I only rebaited 2 traps.:D
