Best bamboo chopper?

Picked this up in Laos in the very early 1990s. Slices right through bamboo.

Gasoline and a match. All joking aside, I would use a machete but mostly because I have one. My 18" Tramontina was a steal and makes quick work of clearing stuff, though I must admit we don't have much bamboo around here. But I can swing it for hours comfortably and it will hack though softer materials 3-4" around like butter. Even smaller hardwoods (small hickory branches) are quickly dealt with. I've abused it pretty badly and it has not chipped or rolled the edge.
The Tramontina I got had a pretty crummy edge on it - the grind was reasonable, but not apexed along most of the blade. I sharpened it by hand with a file and refined it to razor sharp using a large diamond hone. The process took 2-3 hours, but now it stays sharp a long time and only requires light touch ups with the diamond after long hard use. To avoid that extra work, I believe Baryonyx Knife Co. can handle that for you for a few dollars more. Quality tool, simple materials and a great price.

Old thread, but a person could use a Ken Onion Work Sharp to thin the edge down fairly rapidly.

Yeah, I saw that after I posted. Oh well. Anyway, one could use the Work Sharp if they had one. I do not, but spending some time outside with a file, coffee and nature seemed fine with me at the time. For someone who prefers a ready to go solution, Baryonyx would be a good choice.
