I have been using a Skil benchtop 59 1/2 inch bandsaw to cut out wood scales. I do not think the blades are lasting very long and wonder what others are using. I am currently using Olsen brand after being disappointed with the Morse brand blades. I have been using 6 TPI 1/4 inch blades. I only cut wood with the saw but would a bimetal blade give me a longer life? I hate changing these blades almost as much as changing Portaband blades. Price is not important...longevity is. I have no more space to put a better saw in. Thanks for any advice. Larry

If you cut a lot of wood, go for a carbide tipped blade. There are several makers, Lenox, SawBlade.com, and most industrial suppliers. I use a three TPI carbide from SawBlade.com and a Lenox Tri-master blade. Both cut like lasers.
