I was ready to just go back to the hacksaw but that looks like a real sweet set up! Going to harbor freight tomorrow to see if I can't duplicate what you have going on here. Any more pictures of how you mounted the work table and put it in the vice would be appreciated!
Pics of the stock setup are not necessary, you will see that when you pick one up. HF, PC, DW, dont matter which one, they all have a very small "work table," which is more like a work guide or work guard as its so small, like 2 inches wide. I believe that my table is 6x12x1/4, whereas others recommend 12x12x1/4. You can see from my pic that 6 wide supports it just fine. Now, why 1/4 inch thick. Because it enables you to use the stock guide plate bolts with countersunk holes, as you can see from the pic. Then the slot cut in the work table is easy enough to figure out for a bladesmith. There are also some REALLY nice table and wall mounts out there for the eager knowledge consumer.
Im really thrilled with mine. Beware though, most on craigslist are beat and high priced. Check amazon to put the sellers in line.
