Best bang for the buck traditional folder

I happen to collect Buck 300s but that said, I always find these question threads entertaining. Every knife mentioned is a good knife I think the original requestor should make a list of the recommendations and check them all out. My most important advice to the OP is that if you are new to traditional folding knives, or what my 60 year old bones have called "pocket Knives" all those years. My advice is to go handle a few somewhere, to check websites, to go to our picture sights here in this forum and look things over. All the knives mentioned are good knives and would serve anyone well. You have to decide what you need and then decide how fancy you want it to look. With increased "fancy" usually comes increased cost. So go forth and look..

PS Bass Pro has for a long time sold a three blade 309 model that is considered to be a quality small whittler, to be honest I don't know if they still carry it, its sometime called a 310 but will have a 309 main blade. It has for several years been a special order from Buck to BP.

PPS to others. I noticed several mentions of the smooth yellow delrin scaled 300 stockmen, folks they (Buck) have dropped them from their catalog. If you are really a yellow Buck person, I might buy me a extra or two for the future. I think they have to drop something to come up with something new. My fingers are crossed for jigged bone or fancy steel.

I agree with Stich that Boker Stag is a steal.
I find Boker to offer exceptional value to price.
I was recently unable to resist buying this delrin Boker, new in the box, for less than half the price of my GEC's

I would also like to add that A G Russell puts out stunners in the lower price range - I have owned several and read a lot from other users = awesome. Let's NOT get in the Country origin debate- I would like to say however they are as good as MANY U.S made knives by far.

300 has it right- take a list from these comments and advice- do a search within the forums on the knife model- this will give you incredible insight to the knife- match up the prices and then make your decision - you won't go wrong with that- as it will be hard to get to handle each knife suggested.
