Best Bang for the $!

I picked up a Benchmade Mini-Pika at a local Army Surplus store for $19. Seems like a decent knife for the money.

Prettymuch any Wenger or Vic SAK I've used was a very good knife for the price.

I like the Benchmade Pika. It's good steel with good handle ergos. I've actually never cared for the Kabar Dozier folders, though. The have too much blade play for me.

Kershaw Storm II, Sandvik 13C26 Stainless and a Frame Lock, around $30.00 a great knife for the price.

CRKT S-2 from Smokey Mountain Knife Works for $25 - one heck of a knife for the money - they may get some more in stock - titanium - this is a real deal !!

That's a great deal for a large knife with 154CM steel blade and titanium handle in frame-lock configuration. They were selling these for $80-$100 about three months ago.

Guys, I think he's talking fixed blades, right?

For a small fixed blade, the Swedish Moras for $10-12 or less are great buys.

For a big chopper, Justin Gingrich's Ranger RD series can't be beat for the money.

If you're talking folders, an $8 Opinel will out-slice many more expensive blades. A basic Victorinox SAK for $20 more or less is also a bargain.

holy crap that S-2 is an awesome deal.

Hopefully the "temporarily out of stock" actually does mean temporarily.

As to the original topic, I haven't seen Spyderco's entire Byrd line of knives mentioned, and it should be, so there you go.

I'll also recommend the CRKT Carson M21.
Strong knife from a great designer, AUS-8 blade-steel, for about $50.00 dollars.

$7.95 for an Opinel #8 carbon steel. It's not a particularly low price for that model, just a darn good knife that sells at an everyday low price.
