As I'm rehoming many of my Odd 112's I have to decide on a price..and for really rare ones like Prototypes and samples there is NOT any kind of compartibles or eBay listings to go by. Even with a 'standard' 112 what is a NIB 3 dot Knarly Stag with compleat correct shieth and paperwork really "Worth"?? Is it $250.00? $350.00 or even more? It's a nice problem to have for sure! But that brings me to this..
I absolutely loved getting a Buck Bargain! I got more joy finding a deal on a 112 that fit my collection than finding a hundred dollar bill just laying on the ground. Since I hunted the oddballs right from the start a 112 that was different was 'worth' more to me than most collectors and sellers. For example I have a Safety award Brass ebony 112 I got for under $50.00..But it had every option Buck offered. Pad print blade, Lazer etch wood AND bolsters even finger groves lol That was a happy day but to most not worth a bid at all.. What's the story on one of YOUR best Buck Bargains? We all find them but some find incredible deals!! ( Think Armand lol) I call it 'Trophy Buck Hunting' and I consider it one of the best parts of Buck Fever...

My best Buck bargain was a couple years ago, right after Christmas. One of the big on-line knife places had 110LT for $15 & I bought two. The more I thought about it, I thought they'd make for good birthday or Christmas presents. So I got right back online & I tried to buy a bunch more, but they were already sold out.
Edit to add a pic. I keep one of them in my Carhart bibs that I wear when running the chain saw or weed whacker.

I've had it go the other way too. Where I paid too much because I was impatient. If someone is offering me a knife for $50 and I know it is worth $200, I don't have it in me to take it. Dang conscience. I'll at least offer $100 or pay for shipping or something. But to answer your question, I've been blessed with a lot of good people that have given me very good deals on knives - that includes you, Clint. Probably one of the best deals I got was a gentlemen who sold me his 112 build-out collection. He offered them to me at a very reasonable price, comforted by the fact that he sold them to someone who wants to collect them and not just flip them for profit. It is so hard to find the build-outs at any price. But there have been other instances too and I want to thank all the people who have helped me build my collection. A lot of the people in the knife community are good people.

I think I saw those 110 LT's and passed on them for some reason. I tried to make up for it by getting a couple Bucklite's earlier this year on closeout.

My best bang-for-Buck story started with a guy named Justin losing his sweetheart's gift. I picked up this TSA special a couple years ago to try out the Spitfire pattern. It's my only Custom Shop knife and I love it. Really a fantastic knife for gardening and yard work. It's very easy to grab, open, use, and put away all while wearing gloves.

Every now and then I go fishing in the 'bay for another Custom Shop Spitfire, but nothing comes close to the song I paid for this one. I think I paid less than $30 (including shipping) for this and a chipped Buck Bantam.

After I got my Spitfire, my kids got their own through the BCCI Youth program. It was free (with my BCCI membership) so that was certainly a bargain! My daughters mostly use theirs for odd jobs around the house that need a knife. My son is a Scout, and he uses it on all sorts of adventures in the woods. That knife sees the world from the pocket of a 12 year old.

The more time you spend looking for knives, the luckier you get.

I paid $135.00 for this one.

When I have run into one super cheep from a real person I tell them what it is.. Gotta sleep at night. But I did get a 653 on eBay with a Shieth for less than $7.00 shipped. I wore it on my belt all weekend at the 2011 Blade Show and called it my 'Trophy' Buck..

I think my best score on a Buck would be this early script 704 Maverick that I bought off Ebay a few years ago for $30 shipped.
I remember seeing what looked like some little gouges in the bolster in the sellers pictures and contemplating sending it in for a SPA service, but when the knife arrived it turned out to be extremely clean.

I've got several Bucks I consider to be good/great buys. I think the best bargain was my brass/Crelicam ebony 110 I bought new at Wal-Mart for $35.

Man, that's an awesome knife. I paid the same for mine, and it's the 110 that I carry the most. I got a couple extra to give away as gifts. What a deal for a fantastic knife!

Very briefly, the Tractor Supply near me had a discount for in-store pick up that brought the price down to those old Walmart levels. I was tempted.

My best bargain was a 309 that was poorly listed on ebay and I won for $4.50. It didnt show up for 4 weeks, so I contacted the seller and was refunded as it was deemed lost in shipment. Two days later it showed up in the mail. Best bargain on a Buck I've had for sure.

Many of my most cherished bargains were more about getting dream knives for reasonable but not bottom dollar prices after waiting and looking for years to find them. I suppose that has more to do with their value to me than their price. Like others have already mentioned, I also never want to take advantage of someone by paying an unfairly low price for a special knife.

Those aside, it wasn't that long ago (ok, maybe 10 or so years) we could get a 110 brand new for $28 from the super stores. Here's a 50th anniversary version I grabbed for that price but have since passed on to fund other purchases.

As some of yall know I'm not able to display anymore and am in the process of rehoming most of my collection so the grand kids don't sell them at a yard sale for pennies.. Trying to figure out pricing is difficult for me. Especially Prototypes and Samples. But I can say all new homes are happy lolol! I let a Old Custom Shop Rams horn cheep and told the buyer if I seen it on eBay tonight at that price I would buy it!
