Im sure this topic has been brought up at some point but i am curious. Im interested to see what people think would be the best Becker knife for Military use.
I have a few Becker knives and for me, the the BK-7 comes to mind considering its a (combat utility knife.) What Becker knife would you take into combat? You may also want to consider the Becker knife you would want in your hand if it came down to defending your life. If there is anyone out there who has served with a Becker knife, any input would be appreciated.

I am going to go with the BK9. Its got the reach in case I need it and I can do almost anything I can do with the BK9 as I can with a smaller knife.

BK9.

For a knife fight, I'm gonna take a sword.

Or a gun.

I would rather the gun, btw.

Well, if you're going to the foremost front of the battle, take something substantial. Machax, BK-7 BK-9 come to mind.

If it comes down to defending my life, I'd choose a 12 gauge, a good riot shield and a narrow corridor any day.

BK7...... Very easy to handle for such a big blade...... My favorite Becker.

The first tour in Iraq I had a Machax, my second tour a BK10. They were both great! If it came to a knife fight it'd be my fault. I had plenty of SAW ammo the first go round and 5 different weapon systems at my disposal the second time round in Fallujah. I understand a knife fight could happen , but the likelihood is minimal. As for the enemy, mainly they had beat up old AK bayonets that I doubt very highly they had any idea how to use.

Is this Becker intended for your military use or another's? Not trying to pry, but I would take into account MOS, theater of operations and things like that. All that stuff out of the way, ALL BK's would be fine for military use.

BK7, BK10 or a BK12. Im partial to the BK12 which I have strapped on my tac team rig.

Unfortunately, I'm not military, but as far as I'm concerned if you're down to a knife in modern military combat something is going seriously wrong and you have your enemy pretty close to you (I'm talking less than arms length here - a distance at which most military self defense systems start working). A short blade (trailing or clip point tweener?) might be pretty good for this.

But generally, you might want to avoid that, it's far more likely that you need to pry open doors and crates, cut ropes, chop off some 2x4s, or hack through power lines than actually having to defend yourself. So, a drop point tweener, a BK-11 or, if you don't mind the weight, a BK-2. Weight seems to be an issue with all the crap our guys have to carry these days.

I think a BK7 might fit the bill. Lighter than a 9 and quicker in the hand plus a tip that will penetrate a bit better. Im not sure what is allowed but if you sharpen that back cut you will have a pretty mean fighter that will also serve pretty much any other task you need it to.
At the end of the day, you won't go wrong with whichever you choose.

The typical answer is a 14 or 11 as most use would be for opening packages, breaking down boxes, etc... BK7, as that is kinda a replacement for the basic Kabar, BK2 cause it is a stone cold workhorse designed to do whatever, and then the list kind of goes on to cover the rest of the models. Basically whichever you think would work best for you is going to be the best, but my personal fave is the BK2 and the 14, and there is no way you can go wrong with either of those.

you caught me. i am waiting to get my letter signed off from the doctor in regards to being off my (ADD/ADHD) for a year. (which is bull btw) One year off the medication will be Febuary 3, 2012. i plan to enlist for active duty in the U.S ARMY. My MOS plans are to do either cavalry, infantry or health specialist (combat Medic) but as you know what ever i do depends on my ASFAB scores. I am looking forward to enlisting.

The BK-2 is my pride and joy. But like you said the BK-7 was designed to replace the "KA-BAR" which we all know cant be replaced. the thing i don't like about the KA-BAR is its "stick Tang." The BK-7 would be my choice.

I don't have the 7, but I do have the 9, and would go with it, for length advantage.
