I know this might be pushing the envelope of these knives, but I am hoping its not. What is the best Becker knife to skin/fillet a fish? I am thinking a BK24 or even an 11 or 14. What knife have people had the most success with?

I've cleaned trout with my 11. Pretty easily. I didn't skin them though.
I'd say the 15 would be the best for small fish and the 5 for the big uns.

I didn't skin it but the BK-11 worked great on this trout. I am sure the 14 would work just as good.

I just saw Adams' review from Equip 2 Endure on the BK15 and I think you guys are right, the BK15 would be the best. I wasn't sure if the coating would catch on the flesh.
I didn't even consider the BK15 for this! thanks!
PS Awsome picture dresnor!

Thought about the coating too, might wanna go and lightly smooth it over with some sandpaper.

Best way to skin a fish is with a set of these.

Best Becker? This one. Not a doubt in my mind.

Which knife is that in the picture.?Now we are talking!!! Does it come with a sheath of any sort. I am still a bit new and just learned that there is a whole kitchen set of Beckers!

15 would probably be your best bet for the regular series... kitchen series would obviously hold the edge over it.

I wonder if Ethan has ever considered making a stainless steel, flexible fillet knife? Does anyone know? Kabar has one, but I am not keen on the grip.

I suguested that a while back when they were asking for ideas for new knives. I think it would be a great thing for the Becker lineup.

Great minds think alike. Even if the knife was part of the kitchen series, I also think it would be a good ideas.

i think Meghan Becker would be the best skinner... John can't skin a shrimp, and Ethan just cooks them on... :)

ever see that commercial for the fish deboner? snerk...

the Becker series kitchen knives don't have sheaths. i'm surprised that was even asked! even if they did, people would say they suck and go fabricate their own.

me? i want the "voodoo" knife block, but they don't seem to sell without the knives.

btw, the people who make that thing, make a SURPRISING range of funny items in a similar style from skewers, to pencil sharpers, to coffee holders, and more!

I have skinned and filleted small fish easily with a 14, but I did enjoy using my 5 more on some bass this summer, but I honestly think I could use my 5 for just about anything. I say try the 15 if you're not comfortable using a 5 for things like trout or small panfish.

Sooo, what is the name of that knife block set-------"The Ex" !!! LOL :D

@ Bladite - Only asked if there was a fillet knife that came with a sheath, not the whole kitchen set. I misunderstood the picture of a knife filleting a fish and then the next pictures was a kitchen series knife. Either way, a Becker Fillet knife would be awsome for the outdoors. But I am really considering the 15.
