The Lurquin is the knife that makes me smile the widest - stunningly powerful brute of a knife that is very Sam. But it is also probably the furthest away from the traditional bowie of all the finalists. For damn sure it wins any Zombie slayer cleaver contest.

The Lynch is stabby goodness. Tad nailed the lines and execution and the killer hamon is an added bonus.

Seward wins the handle award - I just love the sculpted, carved and integrated elements of wood and steel. And I love the lines. Damascus pattern is not my fave, though.

It came down to the Royer and the Andrews for me. The Royer is the more posh piece. It's a bowie fit for a prince, with luxury materials and an intricate Damascus pattern. And Kyle's work is absolutely superb.

The scales tip toward the Andrews piece for me in part because it more closely represents my concept of a Bowie. I can see it drawn in anger at the Alamo. And it plays to my fave combo of spectacular amber stag and shimmering Damascus. Seriously, for me there is no piece of ivory that can surpass a perfectly awesome piece of stag. And Russ' execution is just about incomprehensibly clean. My vote goes there.

I pulled for Sam's knife. To me, it's kind of a proto bowie- a bowie for frontiersman beyond the end of civilization. Capable equally of building a cabin, paddling a canoe or winning a sword fight

all knifes are sick af, tho

They are all Beautiful in their own way but #1 just does it for me. Thanks for posting the nice pictures also.

They are all stunning but I really like that Royer. The Damascus and the coffin handle are beautiful.

Obviously, all of them are masterpieces on their own, picking just one them feels "unfair" to the rest. When it comes to voting for the best bowie of the year, my logic says to cast my vote either for Andrews' or Royers' knives but my hearts lies with Lurquins'. Following my ex's advice to follow my heart more frequently instead of my logic, I will follow my heart on this one.

russ has my vote, that knife has it all, beautiful! tad lynch is close, the hardening line is gorgeous, the blade shape so elegant. congratulations to all makers, tremendous craftmanship, skill and dedication! thank you!

best regards, and a happy new year from across the pond!

All wonderful

I’m truly torn

the knife that I would want to own is the Lurquin Orc Slayer :)

but I did not even nominate that one because I really did not see Bowie in it

after reading Lorien’s comments I kinda agree :)

the rest are all much better examples of classic Bowie’s and of them the Andrews is the piece that catches my fancy the most

so my dilemma is go with the classic Bowie or the piece that speaks to me the most that I didn’t even consider

Though all of these knives are gorgeous, Tad’s knife just really, really, grabs me.... clean, straight forward elements....beautiful handle, nicely shaped and polished guard, a great looking hamon, and a seriously wicked profile and grind. That blade practically takes my breath away every time I look at it. Mike

PS - Thanks for such a great shot, Coop. Always appreciated.

Well, unfortunately I'm too late for nominations, but fortunately one of the blades I liked the most made it to the final round lol.

I had to go with Kyle Royer's feather damascus Bowie. I just love the slim elegance it has to it and the dark hot blued fittings with the extra wide gold band inlay on the spacer, as well as the creamy ivory. The coffin handle and the profiling of the flat guard also add to it's classiness. It sort of has a "tuxedo" look to it. It was also an extra getting to see the whole thing being built on his YT channel, so I was able to see close-up and appreciate the beauty and fine finish on each individual piece..

As always, they are all awesome knives, congrats to all the finalists!

Well, as much as I'm a fan of Lurquin I'm not sure that knife really qualified as a Bowie knife?

I voted and frankly changed my mind a few times.

Every year, there are a few makers that are hurt by having too many good choices (David Lish this year) had several vote splitters!!
