I currently carry a Novatac 120EDC. My requirement are pocket clip, water resistant, preferrably maximum brightness but easily accessable max bright.

The 4Sevens Quark might fit the bill for you pretty well. There are two versions, the regular and Tactical versions. The regular version has preset modes, max and strobe when the head is tightened, then four brightnesses, SOS, and beacon flashing when the head is loosened. The tactical version has all those modes, except you program one to head loosened and one to head tightened, so you always have instant access to your two favorite modes.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say he needs a clicky rather then a head turn on.

I've carried and used a Fenix PD20 -CR123A-
Code:

and a Lumapower Incendio -CR123A-
Code:

And then soon to be a Lumapower D-Mini VX -CR123A- (waiting on it to ship to me)
Code:

And finally for some good batteries:

I'd say go for the D-Mini VX, the EX was a friggen beast
Code:

and to all reviews I've heard the VX one heck of a thrower. Plus with the extender to allow for you to use 18650 its a good deal, and they let you pick if R2 or Q5...The only negative it has is the GITD button on the back, but thats a easy fix as a black one is provided.

Spend some time on CPF. :D

For me, I'd choose something like a Quark 123 Tactical (strongly considering it, or a AA/AA2), a modded Surefire L1 (have one, seriously recommend you look up user 'Milkyspit' on CPF), a McGizmo (don't have the budget or the need to show off but if I won the lottery.... heh)....

If I had the money I'd go for a Milkymod, but sadly I can't afford it so while drooling over his work someone mentioned a Lumapower D-Mini and I started getting into the Lumapower stuff.

I'm basically about ready to run the UPS guy off the road and get my package from them just so I can play with my D-Mini VX. I have to wait another five hours? Hell no I can go run him off the road as he heads past here in a hour and get it then...

My personal favorite is the Surefire E1B Backup for one CR123 cell. 80 lumans is a lot of light from a small package. Surefire lights go straight to maximum brightness when you press the tailcap, release and repress to get a the lower level (5 lumans I believe).

You already have one of the best single 123 lights so why not move up to a 2x123 light?

For me...........

1x123 ; Nitecore extreme
Fenix PD-20

2x123 ; Fenix Tk-12
Olight M20 r2

Not edc, but worth the cash for 600 lumens...

18650's; Jetbeam Mx-1
Olight M30

The most important thing to me is a simple UI, I don't want to be fumblin in a SHTF situation..........;)

I have been carrying the SF L1 for a long time now and that is pretty similar to the EB1. The L1 has a non click two stage, low to
high tailcap button (harder you press the brighter the light). You can also twist the tailcap on for constant light if you want it.

There is with out a doubt brighter lights out there for a 1x CR123 but that L1 is my favorite by far.

MutedRaccoon---I'm going to go out on a limb and say he needs a clicky rather then a head turn on.

The 4sevens Quark is a clicky.

It's my favorite light. I have the 1 cr123 version and the 2 cr123 version.

I prefer the tactical tail switch, but both are good.

Nitecore EX10....plenty bright...pocketclip...great UI....Great EDC.

I think I'll buy that. I want something I can clip to some tiny cuts I made in my EDC biker vest. It will also clip inside the shoulder loop of my "traditional" biker jacket. That way I will always have light pointing in my field of view.

Just bought both. My wife will inherit the Novatac 120E

I ended up buying this:

Nitecore Extreme HA Bezel R2... 200 Lumen max output :D
