Best Busse for modding?

I'm curious, if ya'll were gonna decide to take on a modification project, which Busse would you start with?

I'm not even sure what I want to do yet, but I'm thinking of grinding something different. Some of the mods I've seen, like the SARQ clip point bowie mods, look absolutely awesome. But I'm not sure I want to replicate that.

INFI is also expensive stuff to be grinding on, so maybe an associated question is - what's the cheapest decent sized slab of INFI to start from? Something unpopular and ugly (other than the Sus Scrofa :barf:) would be ideal as a starting point, if I can get it cheap.

Any thoughts? What would YOU mod, if you were gonna grind on a Busse?

I think the Sarsquatch would be a good place to start. Lots of INFI there for modding.

Garth modded my Public Defender. It turned out super!
No more mods for me. They are what they are.

Actually, the best candidate right now (depending on what you want to end up with) might be a BWM.

It'll be hard to find that much INFI for that price later on. And as thin as it is, it would make an awesome shorter Bowie.

Get the biggest piece for the least. SARsquatch or maybe a SAR5, or someone's heavily used Busse off the X.

Yeah I've definitely been scouring looking for used stuff. I've even posted a few WTBs looking for the most beat-up users I could possibly find, but not had much luck scoring anything super cheap yet. The SAR5 would be a neat one to start with, since there's no choil to get in the way of what you want to do with it. And they aren't terribly expensive either. Good call Jaxx.

Not my area of expertise, bu the BW is an awful lot of thin infi to play with. Of course, a cheap user might be a ways off.

Boy that's a tough one MM, I guess the most used one you can find for the cheapest price. Another thing you have to figure out is what blade design you want to end up with in the end. That would dictate how much Infi or which knife you'd start with.

To be honest I think that all depends on the knife you'd like to have as the end result of your moding, I mean sure you can get like 2 or 3 GW size knives out of BWM, but is it worth in work time, not sure. I sometimes get the ideas for a nice mod just by looking at the knife I got, or by looking at pictures. For me personally the Steel Hearts are closest to what I'd want, matter of fact not a lot of work has to be done to them to make 'em what I want. Some of the custom shop models are exactly what I want, and start thinking if maybe I can mod my knives in similar way.

But for me the mods aren't worth the time and $$$, as for the most part I'm happy with the Busse's as the come. I'm just waiting on a double edged busse, but something tells me its not going to happen.

After Jaxx's suggestion of the SAR5, the gears in my head are a-turnin big time. You could grind it down so the blade is basically straight in line with the handle and make an awesome 4-5" choilless bushcrafter. Oh man would that be sweet...

scrapper 5 is also a great one to mod the handle too. It would make a great piece to have a gorgeous stag and leather hinden tang washer handle like this. That has been my plan since I got it.
